Smear tests :-\

Does anyone know what age your supposed to start having them? And how do you ask for one? I haven't had a doctor for a while (just registered)

they now say you dont need a smear till your 25 but if i hadnt of had mine i would of died of cancer they caught it in time when i was 21-22 im now 23 so its a scary thought!

As soon as you're sexually active

I thought it was as soon as you're sexually active. There is almost no risk of cervical cancer to virgins, which is why they don't smear-test them.

Smear tests

You should have one at 21. Unfortuntaly in Britian the NHS don't want to give smear tests to virgins. I am sure there most be a risk of cancer for virgins too.

I think it differs a bit, which is really stupid in my opinion - at home they said 20 and at uni they said 22, whic seemed a bit late because most people are sexually active for years before that.
Think the best thing to do is either ask your doctor, or phone up the surgery and ask for the practise nurse and ask her. Normally she will be the one doing it, so you can discuss it in detail with her.
