Hi Tracey
I'm wondering if you were able to come off Seroxat altogether? And how you did it? Thank you so much for any advice. I do hope you are still well.
With love,
Dinah xx
Hello Claire this is a reply i sent to someone on another site -
Dan,
I really feel for uand u certainly have done ur research. There are people out there in white suits who are children inside, they made us guinea pigs and the fact that they can make such things is proof to me these are not adults we are dealing with. Ive started to realise a lot of doctors are brainwashed and have swallowed any text book thrown at them. There are few that actually know or listen about the subject. Yet they told me keep taking ur Paroxetine by all means if u think u may fall pregnant as I approached them with the research I had done. It is scary theway they act so ... sure. On there heads be it. I literally stopped mine 4-5 days ago because I think I juct conceived and unlike those doctors i wont put my unborn at riskeven if it kills me. I wrote another post on here explaining in more detail my situation, today i go to the docs once again to have them look at me in the most closed way and get them to listen.
You can help people your knowledge is very impressive and talking to u feels far better than talking to those people called doctors
Dan i want ur advice I can do this cold turkeying because I am strong for my baby and I am not working I left so i can go thru this. Tell me am i putting my baby at further risk by suddenley stopping though? The doctors say there is not enough resarch on this particular question i raise. Re suddenly stopping and pregnancy. All i read is DONT STOP SUDDNELY everywhere but i get the impression its because of withdraal symtoms alone or is it more sinister do u think??? Longterm for me and my baby? Does the sudden stop cause shock in some way to the brain?? Ilearnt serotonin actually plays a part in the fetuss development and can affect its sexual organsand heart too.
I will do what is best for my baby or decide to terminate if it all spells disastor because i dont wish to be like those bastar** in white suits and mess up another persons lifeknowingly nor gamble with it.
Should I take some liquid form do u think ? I have read peoples stories who weened off and still suffered immensly and long term so i question the weening approach. I would have weened off all the same but no i cant bear to put another demonic pill in my mouth agn.
any advice?? Alternative drugs pls Claire....and well done U!!! I know i can do this I just need to know i am not being ignorant once again...
I was on 20mg paroxetine and over 3 weeks cut down to 15.8mg approx then stopped 4-5 days ago. I lovehaving my mind back and I am handling it all somehow
iv been on seroxat for 20yrs and tried to come off several times the doctors are very hesitant to say the drug is making me depressed and paranoid and suffer with anxiety but i know it is ,, i would love to hear any help u could give on this matter please , im desperate for help

Have you thought about hypnotherapy to help depression. I am a qualified hypnotherapist and I know it works. Give it a try.
Kevin
-does- this- r-e-a-lly work? i would try anything to get of seroxat
Yes hypnosis can be very powerfull and also not work if you resist it.
Try it you will be amazed.

Hi Tracey, I have been on Seroxat for about 4 years and would like to come off as I am worried that some health issues I have are the side effects of the drug.
Can you tell me why you decided to come off it?
Emma
I took paroxetine a few years ago, it was a nightmare for me too, I came off it and suffered terrible symptoms of withdrawal, brain-zaps, dizziness, headaches, insomnia.
Recently I stopped taking a drug called Effexor, I'm going through horrible w/d symptoms again ! I'm glad you have found something which helps you, I have taken mirtazapine but unfortunately I had side effects, otherwise I'd have stuck with it.
Now, as my depression is not so severe I am going to try going without prescription meds if I can. But it just shows, some drugs can cause worse problems than they are treating, yet others can be life-savers. I've been off effexor for 6 days now, and just hope the worst is over. I did taper the dose before stopping.
Good luck Tracey, you were right to trust your instincts and stop the seroxat.
I have been taking seroxat for 15 yrs and also an antipsycotic drug. I have tried to come of the medications several times but alway ended up having to start taking them again.
I have just started reading a book about commng of anti depressents and it has confirmed my suspition that these drugs are addictive and you need a careful program and support to be able to reduce or stop taking the medication. When speaking to my GP he was unaware of seroxat in a liquid form that can be used to reduce the amount of drug taken over a longer period and also to reduce the symtoms of withdrawl. I am on the cusp of attempting to start to reduce my medication but only if my requests for support and help are recognised.
I am scared of comming off the drugs because of the symptoms I experience when reducing the drugs before but feel now is the time to take control of my own wellbeing and not rely on the professionals advice without questioning it. thankyou for your post it has given me the confidence that I can sucessfully come of the drug.
Hi think i`ve been sticking my head in the sand about how bad seroxat is.Tried
many times to come off always end up crawling back to the drug. Have had many of the side effects you describe think the feelings of anger and being out
of control are the worst - would like to come off forever have started cutting back on the amount I take but am really scared of facing the withdrawl.

Hi
How are you now I too have been through the seroxat hell, no one can understand it unless you go through the feelings, I had swine flu and went cold turkey for over a week, due to sickness not on purpose, the following week has been hell apart from trying to get over the flu the anxiety and felling were horrendouse went to the GP yesterday as emergency appointment he just said nothing he could do I would just have to get over it.. anyone wishing to talk about it please email me on honeybee08@hotmail.co.uk
Hi. I was on Seroxat off and on for years. Unlikely I will ever be able to stop needing some form of ADs because of the type of depression I have.
My current situation though is that I am taking St John's Wort - with the support of my GP. If I lived in Germany my GP would be able to prescribe them. I have fewer side effects with St. John's Wort and feel more in control
It is worth noting that if you are having what appear to be bad side effects when coming off ADs that it could be the depression (so you need the tablets for longer) and not withdrawal as such.
Have you had difficulties withdrawing from the anti-depressant drug Seroxat?
Have you found it impossible to withdraw from it? Are you having difficulties in withdrawing from Seroxat now?
The High Court made a Group Litigation Order in relation to the Group Action brought by around 500 individuals alleging harm from problems withdrawing from Seroxat.
On 19 May 2009 the High Court ordered that any individual who wishes to pursue a compensation claim must join the Group Action before 15 January 2010.
All individuals must have their claim investigated before they can join the action and so they need to come forward ASAP.
Register your interest now, call the Seroxat team at Hugh James, designated as lead solicitors for the purposes of the Group Litigation Order, on 02920 785 971 or go to www.hughjames.com/seroxat
The Group Register will close on 15 January 2010 and any individuals who have not joined at that date may lose their opportunity to be part of the litigation.
You should not stop taking any medication without consulting your doctor
I have been on Seroxat for 13 years and i'm now trying to come off them. I had my last seroxat pill a week ago, and i'm really struggling. My doctor has prescribed Prozac to help with the withdrawal symptoms. All i do is cry, i'm overeacting to everything, my husband is now frightened to say anything to me as all i do is rant at him. I am determined to stay off these pills, i have terrible dizziness, feeling cold, then warm. How lond does this all last, does anybody know, can anybody help
dear tracey, i have been on seroxat for 12 years now 30 mg i am scared to come off it

Hi Tracey,my names Jo,i've been on seroxat for 12 years and are having big problems after trying to come of it 3 months ago.I've been to see my gp and she put me back up to my original dose. She now wants me to go on to a different tablet, maybe citalopram,im not sure.Im still having problems with sweating, shakiness, not able to concentrate. When i've tried coming off before these symptoms did'nt last that long, but they seem not to want to go away this time.Im 39 now and would like to be normal again one day.
i was on seroxat for 10 years and have been off it for 15months. i changed to prozac to come off but had every side effect going so was off that in 7 weeks, 7 weeks to get off seroxat and prozac. i have had so many problems, brain zaps, nausea, sweating, indigestion, muscle problems, etc. i thought it would all be over in 6 months but i am still have withdrawal symptons, i have improved a little, the indigestion is better, brain zaps, sleep, but not the noise and pounding in my head and the headaches, they are the worst problem for me, i dont want to take more pills, has anyone been on seroxat for a long time, had bad withdrawal, how long, and got better, any help will be appreciated
Early days at present, total duplication of all your withdrawl symptoms.total paranoid deluded thinking my worst demon.Am off tabs at mo and hope to stay that way.been on seroxat for fifteen years.am old timer.belive me when i say it can be done.forgive my preschool message,my first time.Stick at it.katy bell.
How did you come off.Is your doctor aware of what they can do?Im still on my tablets at the mo,but still feeling not 100%.Im going back to my gp in a couple of weeks,i shall tell her that im not the only one with a problem.I went on another website and there are 300 people on their forum! There has to be a way of doing this.I do'nt have a lot of support from my husband, and im self-employed,so it's not easy to try to come off and work at the same time.
