If there is anyone out there suffering from depression whose doctor has put them on seroxat or paroxatine then read on.
I was put on this drug over two years ago and started suffering panic attacks and social phobias. This gradually built up to horrendous joint pains, disturbed sleep, hallucinations, suicidal thought etc. The doctors refused to admit these were problems attached to the drug, but thankfully I went with my gut feeling and started to reduce my dose. It has taken all this time to get from 40mg to nothing and in that time I went through hell. I did some reasearch into a drug called mirtizipine and it basically saved my life. I am more than happy to advise anyone if they are suffering as I have been through it and come out of the other end smiling.

i was on seroxat for 10 years and have been off it for 15months. i changed to prozac to come off but had every side effect going so was off that in 7 weeks, 7 weeks to get off seroxat and prozac. i have had so many problems, brain zaps, nausea, sweating, indigestion, muscle problems, etc. i thought it would all be over in 6 months but i am still have withdrawal symptons, i have improved a little, the indigestion is better, brain zaps, sleep, but not the noise and pounding in my head and the headaches, they are the worst problem for me, i dont want to take more pills, has anyone been on seroxat for a long time, had bad withdrawal, how long, and got better, any help will be appreciated

Tracey...I recognize everything you say....
I have been through it all, but the doctors don't seem to realise the seriousness of it.
I've been off seroxat for about 7 years now, the redrawal symptoms (or whatever strange symptoms they are) I think are still there!!!
Years ago a friend of mine read somewhere on the net that these symptons can go on for 15 years!!!! Do you know anything about that?

And for anybody with depression reading this, doubting wheather to take seroxat or not: DON'T!!!!!!!! is all I can say!!

Take care!!

Hi Marielle, this is the third attempt, i dont think the other 2 have been sent to you as it keeps saying error on page so i am trying a different way, it would be good to have your email address so that this doesn't happen again, mine is christinebell69@hotmail.com i will keep in touch and hope one day to say i am better. It is so good of you to give me so much support, it really does help, as family are good but they cannot understand how bad this is, i tell them is like having the flu all the time. I am glad that you are feeling better and better and that you are no longer taking any pills, did you take the seroxat for depression, i took it for migraine and as they went from 3 days a week to one day a week i thought i would stay on them for life, but then i started to have withdrawal and i went to the priory for a consultation and he said that any medication i took was knocking out the seroxat and i was having seroxat withdrawal, and that i could up the dose, they say that its not addictive and that you dont have to up them, go cold turkey or take prozac, i took prozac and he told me that i had every side effect to prozac and to stop taking them, this was 7 weeks, 2 months later i was so bad i went back and he said that it could not be the seroxat as that would be well out of my body and that i had anxiety. it was 7 months before i found sites on the internet and found that others had the same symptoms as me. I was offered beta blockers but they made me feel worse, how long was you off the seroxat before you was put on the zoloft, and how long was you on the zoloft, which is another antidepressant, and was it hard to get off, do you think you still had withdrawal from the seroxat even though you had the zoloft, when i said about the neurons i really meant the receptors in the brain but could not get the word, i often have this problem now, never used to, but it helps to know that you think that the brain can repair itself, what sort of problems do you have now, i hope they do not stop you doing the things you want to do, hope that you have a good weekend and look forward to hearing from you soon, i hope that you have not got all of the emails, you will then think i am a complete and utter nutter, with love christine

"Count me in"

Hi,

Have ben on this poison pill for over five years now, and the last 3 at 60, which does not help. I only go to medicial apps as am to scared to do anything else, I have been in hospital (medicial not mental) for a while due to lost baby which I was not believed about by most people when I tried to get help, also tumors found, and a cronic case of chrons diesease. I spent as much time as possiable in hospital hiding under the table, with the chair and bed helping to hold up the sheet to hide me so I could be safe.

I hum and rock/figet 24-7, hear things, see things, self harm, everything, is it seroxat? I know some of it is my conditions but I am sure it is not all.

Anyway will help if I can for as long as I can, but I am prepairing for my last xmas, have everything sorted, because of everything that has happened, I will have my 30th birthday next year, but will be gone before xmas, I no longer see the point, and have been like this or some time. I have date, method, time everything all planned, and have what I need roll on freedom.

Hi
I ahve recently reduced my dose from 60mg to 40mg on alternative days.
I once came off seroxat, the first 2 weeks were complete maddness then I FELT A LOT BETTER, THEN 2-3 months later I had a complete relapse and ended back on seroxat again. I suffer from social phobias such as going for meals or other social events
I seem to be feeling steady at the moment but my weight has gone up about 2 stone and i hope my anxiety can disappear so I can come off them completely.
"Seroxat blog"

Hi everyone,

Just to let you know that I've started a Seroxat blog and have found some interesting, informative, sadly depressing in some cases, information that I'm trying to alert ALL Seroxat/Paxil users to.

If there is any way that I can help bring GSK to book, then this is one small way of making a start.

Please check it out and feel free to add any comments you feel appropriate. There is loads of information on the site, not just mine either. Like-minded souls have joined in and are spreading the news (both good and bad).

One Voice - let's get at 'em!!!

http://shutah.wordpress.com/

Thank you all.

"Seroxat petition"
Posted by shutah 27 February at 21:07

I have now received approval from 10 Downing Street for my Petition to be included on the same website.

The petition states that the British Government owes the users of Paroxetine/Seroxat/Paxil a thorough investigation into the use (alleged misuse) of GlaxoSmithKline drug trial information and I have requested that the Government instigate formal investigations into this 'potential' misuse. http://petitions.pm.gov.uk:80/SeroxatGSK/

I would be very grateful if you would add your signature to the Petition and, if you feel strongly about this subject, please do pass the link below onto your friends/family/colleagues requesting them to sign also.

Thank you in anticipation of your valuable assistance in what I strongly believe to be a significant benefit to many thousands of Paroxetine/Seroxat/Paxil sufferers in the UK, and potentially millions around the world.

"Thats brilliant"
Posted by traceysansum 2 March at 22:57

I think there should be more awareness of this dispicable drug. I was almost sectioned and am not almost 3 months clear of it after a terrible journey. If I hadnt of had such a amazingly supportive partner, family and friends I think I might have topped myself by now.
Please, please fill me in on anything I can do to help. I feel very passionate about this subject and am not afraid of thicking it to the man!!!!
I have a few people I can also get to sign it. If you want to contact me at essextreehugger@btinternet.com please feel free.
Peace and light

You should publish your findings. But how? Other women don't have your strength and they are still suffering.I heard that soon we can all set up websites for free. I wonder if any medical students would want to do a study on it...so hard to find out tho isn ... Frustrating. Anyway ..welcome back! You are a star.

"Thanks for that"
Posted by traceysansum 16 February at 18:09

I`m open to any suggestions about how to get a something published however small as so many people are put on this drug by their GPs without any follow ups or general medication reviews. It almost killed me and I`m now loosing weight, looking brighter and bouncing for joy and finding myself after 2 years of absense. Thank you for the supportive welcome back H that was really sweet of you. I have started a blog on here going into a bit more detail if anyones interested.
Big hugs
Tracey x
