Postnatal depression

Hi,
I posted this on the Baby& Toddler board about a month ago...
Am feeling much better now (Bodyfoods was great!) but thought I'd post it here in case anyone else is feeling the same...

I still have days where I wonder what I'm doing though!

"hi, my son is a month old today and I can't cope...it's worse at night, he cries for hours and hours and nothing works for him - I cuddle him, walk him about, give him my finger to suck, try to feed him. I know loads of babies cry in the evenings, but he choose to do it between midnight and 2!!

I can't stand it any longer, I'm averaging about 4 hrs sleep a night and I can't manage on that.

If anyone's in the same situation - help!
will he grow out of it? I know it takes a while to get him into a sleep pattern, but am going to speak to my health visitor tmrw, as he is coughing a lot as well.

All of us at wits' end "

I think sleep deprivation is one of the worst things ever, it can make you feel as if your life is falling apart. But Missfairydust was right, once you start properly looking after yourself, then you can get back on top of things more easily than you think.

I know postnatal depression is common for many reasons.

hope eveyrone is feeling well

I hope you feel a bit better.
Have you tried St John's Wort? that often helps x

Hi

I've just read brooke Shield's story in Now and I think post-partum depression should be taken a lot more seriously by society. It's not just the 'baby blues', more a hormonal imbalance which can be very debilitating.
