Fussy eating is ruining my life!!!

I'm 27 years old and I have been a very fussy eater for as long as I can remember! I live on cereals, toast, crisps, coffee and chocolate! No fruit or Veg! Hardly ever eat any meat and if I do it's only sausages and bacon! I hate going into restaurants or family dinners because I never like any of the food on offer and It always causes problems with my family and boyfriend!

I have 3 young children who eat perfectly well and have good diets, I cook them healthy meals everyday. I just can't seem to eat when they eat. While they eating I do housework or have a bath etc! It's like I seem 'forget' to feed myself, I just have the occasional snack throughout the day and once the kids are all in bed I still stick to snacks, which I know is not healthy but It's become a routine now which I seem to be stuck in and I can't seem to get myself out of it!!! I have done this for years now and I'm starting to realise what I could be doing to myself but I don't know how to sort myself out! I have visited my doctor a couple times and before I go I practise my 'speech' making sure I tell him everything but once I am in there I find it hard to properly explain my problem and end up walking away with a few healthy diet leaflets!!!

I just don't know what to do, I know I'm slowly killing myself and I know when you finished reading this you gonna think I'm an idiot but I really could do with some advice from 'strangers' or from people who can relate to me and my problem!! PLEASE!!! http://www.sofeminine.co.uk/world/communaute/forum/imforum/smiley/g30.gif

Fussy eater

Ask yourself are you trying to control your weight by eating like this? Are you very thin or are you overweight, you could be either on this diet depending on the quantities consumed.
What are the proportions of each item you eat or drink?
If you are drinking 8 -10 cups of coffee you maybe are addicted to caffeine, if you are eating loads of chocolate then its probably the chemicals in it (similar to neurotransmitters released in the brain when we are happy), that your body craves.

You certainly are using food as a way to control yourself at some level, what I wouldn't like to say as I am not qualified.

Seems you are swinging possibly between food deprivation and treating yourself.

You need to see a specialist to sort out what the problem is, certainly your health will suffer eventually as you get older, and your skin too.

Are you a smoker and drinker too?

Perhaps taking a good friend with you to the Doctor will help to get you started in the consulting room.

I think you are also not giving us or yourself the big picture, your text reads almost as if you find your problem amusing as if you are a naughty child.

I had a friend who survived almost exclusively on two or three bottles of wine daily, chased down with many cups of strong black coffee with sugar, a piece of toast every day or so and maybe a bit of soup or stew when encouraged, and about 40 fags a day (or more when entertaining) .She was a responsible primary school teacher with three children of her own, a very smart woman but at 50 she looks like a ghost. Emaciated with almost see-through skin and terrible wrinkles - looks closer to 60 now and surely not very healthy.

Ultimately it depends how long you want to live, whether you do something about it or not , motivation needs to come from within.
