My name is Charlotte Newman, my DOB is 24/07/80.

I am having a major dilemma, I have been with my boyfriend for 14 months and live together, my boyfriends name is matthew brickell and his DOB is 17/10/75. When we first met he was the most romantic, loving, passionate person ever. He would tell me and show me every day how much he loves and wants me. He told me he loved me after 2 days and wanted to marry me after a week.
He had never been like this with anyone before. He was sexually abused by his mum during his childhood and shut down emotionally for most of his life and always went for people he couldn't get close too. Until he met me, but after about 7 months he shut down, he found it really painful and difficult to deal with the emotions he feels for me and now I don't know what to do, when I try and talk about things and say I want to help him etc he says I am pushing the issue and that I'm being negative and that it pushes him away.
How can I show him that I will always be there for him and that he shouldn't be afraid to love me and feel those emotions, as he keeps telling me it is still all inside him. But how can I help him to open up again.
Please, please can someone give me advice, as I love my boyfriend so much and really believe we are meant to be together and I miss him and his love, affection and passion so badly. I am a very understanding person and will stand by him through anything, which he knows. It's just hard at times as I have tried every approach and at times it feels as if he is punishing me for loving him. He had a totally loveless childhood, and bad relationships before me. Dear lost soul, all you can do at this time is to let yourself be prepared for a emotional roller coaster. You need to be strong and hold on until you know when to let go your heart will guide you. Your boyfriend needed someone to love him to the point,he needed to draw someone into his lonely heart. I am not saying that he does not love you,however how can he love when no one ever showed him how to love. He pulls away because when he gets close to you or you get to close him he can't express himself because he do not know how to. The feelings that he is feeling is strange to him, loves hurt for him love do not make him feel good. So there for he with draws himself to shelter his self away from his feelings. i am not a psychic but i understand what you are going through at the moment. if ur bf is not ready to deal with his problem by first admitting that he was sexually abused by his mother and seeking professional help from a counsellor then you are knocking on a brick wall. The next thing he has to do is to face his mom n let her know how he felt about her abusing him .this will destroy him . lastly try writing him a letter in ur own handwritting and give him space and let him know you will be there for him whenever he is truly ready to go through the holistic healing process.

I'm not psychic, maybe an empath, but I have just finished group therapy of 20 sessions.
I never would have guessed that group therapy could do so much for me emotionally as it did. It has taken me years to understand and know about my emotional turmoil. By being in a group, it's private only to the group members. You each express yourselves and you realize that things they bring up in group relate and take you back to things you have forgotten. You might want to reccomment that your boyfriend get in touch with therapy through his insurance plan. They should be able to help him find places that offer group therapy. I have been struggling for the past 3 years with my emotions and childhood and this help has made me get to know who I am and maybe I'm also an empath and at times feel other's emotions. Please try this as an option because I was really desparate and needed help. I got the help to allow me to move forward, and also to get on medication that actually made me feel like me again.
