Fortune telling by cards.

Firstly, Hello everyone. I found and joined your board today.

I have read many of the threads on your board and found that they deal exclusively with tarot cards. I myself am of gypsy stock, born on a gypsy site. I am not Rom, I am Sinti. I am also getting on a bit now!

My Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother were all card readers using the 52 card pack, and earned their daily bread therefrom. As a boy, I myself was taught the almost 200 single and combination card meanings attached to the 52 card pack.

I was also told at that time, and I believe it to be true, that in the same manner that the priesthood arose to read the bible to those who could not read it for themselves, that tarot cards are simply pictures, used by those who could not read the cards.

I still read the cards for my own pleasure, but do read for anyone else at all. Over the years I have met many who assured me that they could read the cards, usually tarot, but who could not read a newspaper!

I would match my knowledge and skill against any tarot reader any time. The true art does not depend on inspiration or psychic skill or any other intangible process, the cards read clearly and do not lie if the correct meanings are known.

Lastly, do not be decieved by the awful twaddle posted on the web, purporting to give the card meanings, nearly all are inaccurate or guesses.
