Am hooked, oh dear...
does anybody know of a good wool shop in the midlands? It seems to be impossible to buy wool and fabric now. More and more people are making things for themselves and more and more businesses seem to be closing, I don't understand it.
*thanksxxx

Kidderminster has its own wool shop with a large selection, and stock all major brands of wool it has been in kidderminster for 14 years or more and new people have taken over two years ago very helpful ring therm on 015623 820279
PS they do a layby and knitting up service and postal service, you can pay by credit card too.
Also they stock baby christening wear and have a hand knitting up service. I hope this helps all ladies looking for a wool shop.

Try "Fabric Interiors" in Studley, Warwickshire. They have an enormous range of designer knitting yarns. Also once a month they hold "Stitch and ... club at a local pub in Alcester, a perfect opportunity to pick up the yarn for your next creation, see new ideas and meet new friends. Go along and see for yourself, remember to take your knitting and take a friend.
Give them a call first on 01527 853336.

I don't know of any wool shops in the midlands as \I haven't lived there for 15 years, but you could try the following
www.ebay.co.uk
www.knittersandsewersworld.com .
I use these a lot and are very good

I found a site for "sirdar" wool, I think you can buy it through the net. Try www.sidar.co.uk
I will try and find it again and let you know.
A search on the web for knitting wool suppliers will give you some sites to try and they will tell you anywhere locally to you.
All the best!

People do it on the tube here, it's really cool!
I'm knitting a throw at the moment, with mohair, wool an cotton yarns, the mix of textures is beautiful.

have several projects on the go but all have been postponed as am currently filling orders for eyelash scarves even tho it's spring! the worlds gone mad for them and am currently on scarf no21! loved to get back to some real knitting tho. this would include a minicable cardiand a Duet wool twolayer summer top I'm doing for my 12 year old daughter.

Where did you see the pattern for the throw, or are you making it to your own pattern? I would interested in making one of those.

...but my mum's not a knitter to teach me!
Any advice? Do people do knitting lessons? Don't want to end up with loads of old women looking down their noses because I don't know what I'm doin!

If you live anywhere near Shipston on Stour, (South Warwickshire, south of Stratford), there is a fabulous wool shop there, called, I think Shipston Wool Shop. If you stand in the main square facing the pub, it is down the little road to the right.

She had absolutely everything you would need, needles, markers etc and an enormous range of wools and patterns, not just the usual old lady knits.

really inspiring...
