Buying a sewing machine

I thought I'd try my hand at making my own clothes, curtains etc and am considering investing in a sewing machine. I haven't used a sewing machine for a while, so not sure what to look for. Curtains and cushions look like they'd be easy to make - or am kidding myself?!

I'd really appreciate some advice on which kind of sewing machine to go for. What sort of price range should I be aiming at for something decent?

Maybe you had already

buyed a sewing machine,... but anyway.. I have an husqvarna viking, model lily545, and I think SHE'S fantastic!!!
I use her for quilt making..
and for little job .. not yet clothes.
