| Thread started by: | "Celebrity big brother 3 - haven't we suffered enough already?" Posted by Morag4 19 January at 15:31
... Or maybe we just can't get enough of seeing the stars brought to earth with a bump. There is nothing like scrutinising them with a microscope... or webcam.
Personally, I have had enough! It is hardly British entertainment at its best (although I think we've rather forgotten what that is - Bring back Blackadder please!!). Channel 4 have really scraped the barrel this time, and it is not a surprise that so many famous faces turned down the offer to live in a hamster cage with a bunch of nutters.
I admit that I have not/will not watch a single episode (anyone is welcome to call me biased), but what was once an original concept, is now cheap, crap television and it bored me rigid!
I am longing to be told that I am wrong, that it is an hysterical, yet educational series 3... can you?

The other night I could not sleep. In desperation I came down and made myself a cup of tea - as one does - and flicked on the TV. It was about 1 am and the nightime session of this abysmal programme had just started and was due to air until 2.30am.
Is it really necessary to show one and a half hours of people sleeping? My daughter once had the same insomnia problem and has advised me that for two hours (on and off) she watched gripping coverage of a dripping tap!!!
We are constantly told that this is a very 'clever' programme. That Big Brother is wonderously 'clever' in the tasks and humiliations that he heeps on these has beens or hope to be 'celebrities'!! (Who are these so called 'celebs' anyway? I have no idea who or what they are so they can't be anyone worth knowing).
Frankly my suggestion is that at around 2 a.m a group of like-minded, insomiac, non- celebs, like myself, get together and really pep things up by napalming the Big Brother house and watching the contestants fry. Particularly that dreadful man who... well I can't even write about him without gagging and surely it would be a kindness to put that poor, confused old woman down.

I know the night-time programme can be a bit boring, but I like seeing how celebrities live together, it's interesting, especially seeing Caprice without make-up! Lots of people look up to them and I think fans want to see their idols in 'normal' situations, it makes them feel closer to them.

Don't you think that's a bit sad?
I do think people who watch the night-time broadcasts (insomniacs aside), should get out more. It seems like lazy programming to me.
I think BB has grown into a monster, the 'social experiment' arguments may have just about held in the beginning, but as soon as Celebrity BB came along any remaining shred of social interest disappeared. Watching a bunch of self-promoting exhibitionists sleep isn't really my idea of good viewing.
