Hi

I went for a routine midwifer apptmt at 13 weeks and she couldn;t find the heartbeat, which panicked me no end - she assured me the electronic handheld was registering it but she just couldn't hear it, but I still worried for weeks! I went back last week (at 18 weeks) for blood screening and asked her to try again, and it was as loud as you could believe! I was so relieved. So you may need to wait a while - and be calm, unlike I was, if you don't hear it until around 18 weeks.

Whole thread for the following message:

for best results.... need to be at least 17 weeks.
even at this its not often you will pick up their heartbeat.
you may find yourself worrying even more. Any doctors will not perform this until after 20 weeks.

Hi Kayleigh,
I bought one which was from 12 weeks.
The monitor, plus gel, plus delivery was just under £40.
