Breast pumps......?

Hi ladies

Was just wondering what peoples opinions on breast pumps were? i'm planning to BF and once this is established would like to be able to express to give me a little more freedom and so OH can have a go with feeding.
there seems to be so many around so was just wondering was everyone else had? My MW reccomended the Medula Swing which seems to have lots of good reviews, its quite expensive (bout £90 in Mothercare i think) but if i buy it directly from MW its £65 as they get them at cost price, which still seems like a lot!!

Hope everyone is ok--its horrible and wet and cold here in Wales

Breast pumps

Electric pumps are more efficient than hand or battery powered breast pumps. These are easy and safe to use. There is no need to use hands for pumping the milk. This helps in saving the time for pumping the milk. Electric breast pumps can be used frequently. Both breasts can be pumped simultaneously by plugging the pump directly to an electric outlet.

I have ...

... philips avent isis iq uno breast pump!
It's OK, does the job!!
I would deff recomend an electric pump over a man one ... research shows that people who use man. give up expressing earlier than those with electric!!
I started expressing 1st thing from about 2 weeks, which my hubby gave to the baby at bed time!!!
Now I usually express twice a day, first and last thing!!
Good luck with everything

Heya

I was hoping to BF my son but he was incubator for 2 days and I didn't produce enough milk even though I used the hospital electric breast bump immediately to help stimulate milk flow.
I was given a manual breast pump by my MW (someone didn't want it and gave it to her) and managed to produce enough milk for two feeds a day, some breast milk is better than none.

I would say wait until your baby is born and see how BF goes etc because if you are gonna only use the breast pump a couple of times a week then I would say get a manual breast pump, if you are planning to use it more defo go for a electric one. The manual is quite time consuming.

I had the avent breast pump last time and it was easy to use, as I said just time consuming.
I have just bought the tommee tippee manual breast pump for a tenner from asda, just in case the same thing happens to me again. Im only planning to use mine twice a week.

Hellooo

Heya!

I was the same as you, and wasn't sure on breast pumps, and wasn't going to get one straight away as I was planning on exclusively breastfeeding Thomas for about a month before starting to express.....anyhow, it didn't turn out this way, Thomas was not a good latcher, and after a spell back in hospital (he lost a lot of weight where he was not feeding properly) and using their medula breast pump, decided to express and formula feed him. I have the medula swing and it is brilliant, can't say if it's any better or worse than any others as I haven't tried any others, but it works well for me. I would def say get an electric one though. When I got my medula swing, mothercare were doing it for a bit cheaper, and that was only a week ago, so hopefully they are still doing it that cheap, but if you can get it even cheaper from the midwife, I'd say go for it!

That was a bit of a ramble lol, sorry....but in a nutshell, I think the medula swing is brilliant!

Lots of love,

Debra and a sleepy (but soon to be hungry) 1 week 6 day Thomas James xxxxxxx

Breast pumps

You have to breastfeed the babies in the early days. A breast pump such as the Avent Isis Breast Pump can be your savior. By spending those first precious days or weeks pumping, you can provide the hospital staff with your own breast milk to feed your newborn. Advanced Breast Pump can allows you to feed baby with nutritious breastmilk without having to leave an event early.

Breast pumps

The Avent breast pumps are portable and easy to use. These are used by many mothers. These are safe and easy to clean. We can carry the pumps along with you as it is small and portable and can fit in a bag. There are many brands of breast pumps which come in both electric and manual. But the manual breast pumps are light in weight and easy to carry making the mothers work easy.
