Hey
Do you have a support belt?
If not get one. The one the NHS physio gave me last time was a wide strip of elastic with velcro fastening, not the most comfortable and kept bunching up. Have tried wearing it again this time, but the velcro isn't strong enough anymore.
Rang my private physio (i have a chronic back problem and see a physio about once a month for it) and told him that SPD was really bad and support belt was useless, He is ordering me one which he thinks is great, He gave me the web address which is www.serola.net. It is an american site and i'm not sure if he is getting it from them or a UK distributor but they might deliver to UK. Will let you know when I get it and if it helps at all.
Is your physio NHS or private, because I would definately advise seeing a private one, they are much more active in treatment (some is still safe even when pregnant,) Whereas the NHS ones generally just give you exercises and send you on your way.
I found last time that crutches helped a lot, I know they are not very convienient, especially when you have another child to run around after, but they help take the weight of your pelvis when walking and I would have been bed bound without them last time!
Apparently the GP can perscribe some safe painkillers too if it gets too much, so maybe mak an appointment with them?
I had another point, but can't remember it now!
Ah yes, swimming! I found being in the pool was great, it takes all the weight and pressure off your pelvis and I found so much relief in it. I used to walk up and down the shallow end of the pool to get some painfree exercise. Maybe worth a go?

I dont have a support belt, as I think the first appt with my physio was just to assess me really. Unfortunately she is NHS, my physio I usually use isn't qualified for practice on pregnant women which is a pain!
I will definateley have a look at that website, I was going to get the one from mothercare thats £35 i think, but not sure if it's any good?!
I'm really think that crutches are going to be the only relief, as I'm now having to walk in baby steps as anything more hurts. I really don't want to take any pain killers, as I've really tried to avoid anything during this pregnancy.
I might try swimming, just have to pluck up the courage to bare my body lol.

Support belt
Hi,
Sorry to hear your on crutches now, is very awquard i know! I found people gave me really wierd looks as well, as if to say you're pregnant, you shouldn't have been doing anything which could land you up on crutches! I wanted to have a sign around my neck saying its not my fault its the pregnacy, not me skydiving!
I have been on holiday the last two weeks, so sorry haven't replied sooner!
Daughter still being a pickle, however i think i have mellowed over the last two weeks, so not quite as stressed by her. Long may that cntinue!
I have my new support belt, from that website i told you about, It is great! It really holds you together! Is very firm and I would definately recommend it, even if you are on crutches!

I got mine quite late into my pregnancy so i was never sent for physio, one thing the midwife mentioned was to was get some maternity pants, they have more support, also jeans with the over the bump bands help. new look are doing bump support bands too.
Thats all i can suggest im afraid. hope things start feeling better for you soon
