My birth story - very long sorry!!

It isnt the best one im afraid, but she is more than worth it.

Had my sweep Wednesday 17th June, was due on the 8th. After that was dialated 2cm, and booked in for induction Friday 19th.

Got to the hospital at 8am Friday, they did my normal checks, blood pressure, temp etc, and then left me on the monitor for half an hour.

At 10am, they came and broke my waters, hadnt dialated anymore since wednesday, they put the drip in hoping something would happen, they kept coming back every 4 hours, to check my dialation, and found i hadnt dialeted at all for each internal, i hated them, they were uncomfortable and hurt.. and my waters were leaking throughout the day and it just made me feel dirty and horrible.

The drip was put up everytime and got told they are only going upto 16, contractions started , they were managable, i didnt have gas and air cos it makes me sick and didnt want to risk it so early on.
The drip ended up going to 28!!! Contractions were starting to hit 35 on the monitor, 5 every 10 mins, still hadnt taken anything for it. and still no dialation.

By midnight i was sooo tired, and couldnt cope anymore, so started on gas and air as contrations were coming up at 65 on monitor, i had pethedine at 2am as contractions didnt stop, they just kept rolling and rolling.
A doctor came in and said that they were possibly going to have to do an emergency c section, but i had to wait till 6am i was gutted cos i was being sick from the gas and air, pethedine didnt work and i hadnt slept at all, was on constant monitoring as baby girl had already opened her bowels so they had to check on her, and the drip so everything was awkward.

finally 6am Saturday morning rolled around, checked me again, and i hadnt dialated at all, so was then decided i was having a c section, i cried for ages i just couldnt cope anymore, they turned the drip off for me so i could sleep but contractions were still coming thick and strong. got 2 hours sleep before they came in at 8am to prep me for surgery.

Then at 9.30am they came down to get me, i started being sick after the epidural, as i hadnt had anything to eat since 7.30 am friday morning it wasnt nice,
i really didnt want the epidural and was panicking like mad, the people in surgery with me were lovely, although the midwife told my husband to wait in the wrong place whilst they prepped me and were going to start without him, she eventually found him, stupid woman!!
apparently was quite talkative throughout and the guys in theatre were really nice, god knows wht i was on about, but apparently i liked how the epiddural made me feel and they could make a fortune if they could sell it on the streets lol, god knows!!!!!! then there was a lot of pushing and pulling, and all of a sudden, heard this scream,me and lee just looked at each other and burst into tears, it was great, she got a right pair of lungs on her, they showed us quickly but didnt get a good luck, and then they gave her to lee, i couldnt see her but seeing his face was enough.

I apparently bled a lot and was really hard to stitch me up due to my old scar which they re cut for me, on the outside. then we got moved to recovery and i got to hold my baby girl. was sooooooo happy!!! got told there was no way she was coming out on her own.

she was officially born on the 20th june, at 10.27am weighing 8lb 15oz,she had it planned ready for fathers day. but she is amazing and was well worth it in the end,she is an abosolute star, only wakes up once in the night at 3am, for about half n hour, then again at 7am,
Tonight is out first night home and going really well far.,

Sorry its sooo long, but they left me 22hours before thinking about doing something, but she is here so she is more than worth it, wouldnt be without her. Just making sure im not doing too much and taking recovery as well as i can, i was up the night of the section, they wouldnt let me walk around but they let me stand up

Congratulations!!!

Well done Nat and welcome to Megan. I'm sorry the birth didn't go as planned and I find it quite shocking that they let you wait the whole night before doing a c-sec, but I hope you are recovering well.
I'll definitely remember Megan's birthday since it's mine as well. Good date to be born!
Best of luck and I'll probably see you on the Babies and toddlers forum very soon when I join the gang with my second one.
Congratulations again,
Flo, Etienne 17 months, and 35 wk pink bump.

Aww hun!

Sorry it wasn't the nicest experience- looks like she was far too comfy in there and didn't want to come out!

Congratulations!! Enjoy being a new mummy- I'm sure you will love it!
