Hi Charlotte,
remember me? It's Helene from Scotland. I've not been on the forum for ages as I was in France during the summer but I was just coming to see if there was any news from Estelle...
And you, how are you getting on? Your due date must seem really close now!

Welcome back so !! hope you had a great holidays in France. I am so looking forward to going back, i don't know why but i am missing some food i only find there. Otherwise, i am pretty fine and waiting for my baby to come. I am now in my 38 weeks, the midwife told me 2 weeks ago that i should give birth before the end of this week but, don't know why, i don't think so, despite that he has his head already engaged at 3/5 and he is very low, low. I don't really go out anymore cause i am breathless and it is painful between my legs, i can't walk a lot and when i do, i am as slow as a tortue!!!!
What about you? what do you become ?

...not Estelle (lol). She must be very busy with her new baby right now.
I have just read you got engaged. Congratulations. This is great news! are you going to get married in France? I remember my wedding day as if it was yesterday yet it was 2 years ago!
I have just gone back to work teaching full time after a year of maternity leave or half a timetable so I am finding it quite hard, but i'll get used to it I think.
My daughter Elise is not a baby any more, she is now 9 months! it goes too fast! She is not in a hurry to develop and refuses to stand on her legs, she just sits and plays happily. Can't complain.
38 weeks for you already, you must be uncomfortable. I went up to 41 weeks and I can tell you the last week was the longest ever! If you have these pains between your legs it's because your pelvis is opening, and if your baby is well engaged, the birth cannot be far! Enjoy it as it is a fantastic experience to give birth to a baby.
Let us know when you have given birth.
A bientot Helene

Sorry i got confused with the name. Yes, we plan to get married in France as it will be less expensive than in London and for my fiance's family, going to France will be a little bit exotic, they will love that. We are thinking about the spring 2007, so no rush for the organisation etc...
So you are back at work. How do you manage with your little daughter? who is looking after her? the nursery are so expensive. It is not too difficult to work, go back home, look after her, your husband, you, the house ??? how do you cope?
About giving birth, i am not scared and rather confident but just a bit apprehensive about when it will happen and how. I am starting to be a little bit impatient cause my fingers are starting to swallen, i can't walk for a long time cause the pain between my legs annoys me, but i know that i have to "take it easy and enjoy these last moments of quietness" because after...who knows how it will be !!!
If you have some tips for after the birth, about clothes, breastfeeding, how to cope, je suis prenante !!
A bientot, Charlotte

I did not reply earlier, i do not check the forum everyday. I am thinking you may have your baby in your arms by now, I hope everything is OK.
For breastfeeding I always did it on demand, sometimes every 1hour and a half, especially in the evening. That worked well for us and Elise slept through the night at 5 weeks.
I am sure you will cope no problem, the first few weeks are hard so don't hesitate to have a nap when your baby is sleeping.
Anything else I can help with let me know. Good luck for everything Helene
