6 weeks pregnant today

Hey that 12 week mark seems ages away....i remember waiting for it the last time!

Sorry to hear that some of you have been having very dismissive appointments with your doctors (Louise's post) Its a shame that some of the doctors and midwives (not all) just see us as 'numbers' and and while you feel over the moon when you go in you come out worrying about m/c and as if you are being silly for going in so early...!!

This is my second time and i am more wary of the system this time.....I rang up my docs and the very first appointment that i have is not until the 10 week mark!! and they dont even confirm the preg...they just take your word for it......makes me feel a little uneasy really...

Anyway.....still feeling knackered in the afternoon but otherwise not too bad...

How is everyone else?

7 wks pg and also think gp referral system weird

Hi there. Have 15 mth old who was born in Belgium so 1st time being pg in UK. Dr thrust a pamphlet in hand when I was 5 wks and told me to phone a 'early PG consultation' service. Turns out you go to a group chat at local childrens centre - secretary there already knows me as my child goes there for play session, so no confidentiality that I would have preferred if this took place at drs. After that group session, got a call and then got to see someone at antenatal clinic in hospital. But what if I had not planned the pregnancy or was confused about something or did not know that I needed to take folic acid or dietary requirements during the first early weeks??? I just think it really leaves some women out in the cold at what can be such a terrifying/confusing time.

Anyway hope everyone is feeling well and nausea/sickness easing or gone.

Would love to hear from you Karen on what your thoughts are on dealing with age gap with your first child (I think we will have same gap).

all the best to all,
Zhada

Hi Zhada,

Emily is 15 and a half months old now, so yeah we have the same age gap. To be honest, im kinda apprehensive about how she will react to the baby when s/he arrives, she gets slightly jealous when i hold other peoples babies, (not so much as she was though as Emmy goes to a child minder who also looks after a 6 week old baby, and when im there and the baby is there, i make sure i hold him and include Emmy as well, she whinges a bit but is getting better now)

Im sorry to hear you have had such a crap experience with the Dr, i have not known things like this to happen to anyone, i know some Dr's just look at you as just another patient, but if you feel you have been mistreated by them, put in a complaint (how are they gonna improve if nobody tells them where the fault lies)

Good luck Zhada,

Karen&7+2 marshmallow

Hey

Lovely to hear from you......its really interesting to hear how everyone is feeling.
Sorry to hear some of you have the morning sickness and not good when you have little ones to look after already! (mine could be on the way....i had it with my daughter around about now so crossing my fingers that it wont be as bad....)

Well i still feel tired in the afternoon and i cant stop nibbling on food (but dont like big meals!) i have noticed i have put a little weight on (from all the eating...arghhh!) and just feel....well a little unfit really! Off for a swim tomorrow!
12 weeks seems like an age away doesnt it!......I know from experience that when you reach it you are worrying about the next goal/point as well....ha ha its never ending worry!

Take care,

Lou xx

Hi Louisey,

Im 7 weeks today with my second, and as with my first pg, i am having really bad nausea and vomiting, up to 6 times a day sometimes. The dr actually signed me off last week as i was feeling so rubbish, its hard to cope with ms and a rambunctious 15 month old at the same time lol. I made an appt with the doc and took in my digi test, he was made up for me (my dr is really nice) i have my first mw appt on the 15th july but no scan booked as of yet. Been feeling some really strange feelings in my abdomen by my bladder, like little flutters, but think it may be wind as i know its too early to feel anything just yet!

Anyhooooo thats enough of me rambling on, and congrats and good luck to those newly pg out there

Hi Lou

Congrats on your pregnancy! I'm 16 wk 1 day with my first and am feeling anxious every step of the way!

My docs didn't do a test to confirm either, they just said the tests available these days are pretty accurate! In the end I had a private scan at 8 weeks to put my mind at rest. Then had my normal 12 week scan and cannot wait for the next one in 4 weeks time. Time seems to be dragging although I'm loving being pregnant. I have total bump envy of ladies who are further along than me... can't wait for a big fat belly. (I'm sure when I have one I will regret saying that!!) I have a midwife appt this week, and my last one was a bit of disaster so I'm a bit apprehensive.

I'm sure everyone feels the same though, when so much changes with our little bubs week by week, it seems madness not to be checked more regularly!

Anyway.... take care and hope time starts to fly by soon!
