Maternity grant form

Hi hope everyone is doing well.

I was just wondering I have my 28 week midwife appointment tomorrow (I will be 27+4). Is it okay for my midwife to fill the back of my form in even though I won't be 29 weeks?

I won't be sending it till Im 29 weeks as it won't be accepted but my next midwife appointment isn't till I'm nearly 32 weeks (i think). As I was early with my son and I have been told I have a good chance of having another early baby (hope not I'm at a wedding on sept 5th, i will be 36+2), I need to make sure I have the money before bubba arrives in time for me to get baby things in.

I seem so impatient but I'm worried I won't have everything ready in time.

Thanks girls

Its 25 weeks - not 29..!!

HI there

You can receive this from from 25 weeks from your mw, so you should get it at your next visit - then you can send it straight away - not sure where you got 29 weeks from??!

It can take a few weeks to come through too so the sooner you do it the better - or you could be nearly finished with your pregnancy by the time you get it and technically its for healthy eating - so to me it makes no sense why you have to wait so long anyway - surely you should be able to claim it straight away when you find out your pregnant !!!!

Anyway, HTH

Hey hun

Thanks for replying but I'm talking about the sure start maternity grant for 500. I know you can claim the health in pregnancy grant from 25 weeks, which I'm going to sort out today when I see midwife. She has made me wait 2 extra weeks. I don't understand why it's given so late in pregnancy as my mate didn't receive hers until 38 weeks.

Some info on sure start mat grant for those who may be able to claim.

Sure start grant can be claimed from 11 weeks before baby is due upto 3 months after baby is born. It is for people on Income suport/income based jsa, people on higher rate child tax rate (higher than family element), pension credit, income related employment and support allowance or working tax credit which includes a disability element. It's a one off payment of 500 for each child expected. You may be able to claim after your baby is born if you start to receive a higher rate child tax credit.
