hello,
I am only on my 18thweek of pregnancy this is myfirst baby I am really worried about tearing during labour is this quite usual or is there steps i can take to help prevent a tear or is it really down to the midwife delivering my baby and when she tells me to push

at the end of your pregnancy, you will be so looking forward to give birth that you won't think about how the labour will be etc... the midwifes are wonderful in general and they know their job.
Also, go to the antenatal classes that you will be offered, it will help you. The more you read about it, the better it is, it will help you to relax and to anticipate what will happen, you will be prepared mentally. Go to the library, buy books, check internet.
