Folic acid and jumping baby during scan.

Hello Ladies.

Just a quick question, I've been taking follic acid for a year prior to conception, recently I saw my MW who told me I shouldn't take follic acid after twelve weeks.

I've beed taking pregnacare with omega since finding out preggers which contains follic acid. There does not seem to be a preganacy vit without follic acid. I would like to continue with the vits to make sure I'm getting all the vits baby needs.

I had my scan yesterday which revealed I was a week further than I thought. I'm worried now as the baby was jumping around like a mad thing, it did a back flip at one stage. Terrified I've made it hyper. Thats probably stupid but need your advice, now that I'm in the 3rd trimester should i stop the follic acid.

The scan was amazing, got the video clips on a disk. my new due date is 25th Feb. :

I did

I took Folic acid from when I found out I was PG until my last pack ran out (about 14 weeks), I then took Sanatogen Pronatal until probably a month after I gave birth, the MW said it was a good idea and certainly wont do you or the baby any harm xx

Hey

hiya,

i took folic acid to about 16 weeks, as i still had loads left, but they started making me sick after 16 weeks.

I wouldnt honestly recomend taking the supplements if your eating a healthy balanced diet (which is obviously better then the vits anyway) as your now coming into the second trimester.

as others have said your baby will move alot at the moment as he/she has so much room in your tummy.

its really down to you how long you want to continue taking folic acid / vits for, i just followed what my body wanted .

Glad you enjoyed your scan hun

Jumping bean

I just had my 12 weeks scan the other day too and the baby was exactly the same, jumping up and down etc...The ultrasound tech asked me to go partially empty my bladder and as soon as I had done this the baby settled down for a nap so perhaps he was anxious for some space!

Extra vitamins (as long as it isn't vitamin A) can't hurt the baby, so why not take them throughout! To be honest besides folic acid I haven't taken a multivitamin and haven't been recommended one.

I say different strokes for different folks.

Too much information ruins the romantic side of pregnancy...just relax and enjoy the next few months!

Hi!

I took the pregnacare conception prior to conceiving and then carried on taking it until 12 weeks. At 12 weeks I switched to the normal pregnacare.

Both my midwife and GP advised that continuing to take a pregnancy supplement as well as a balanced diet was the best thing. They said that even if you are eating a balanced diet pregnancy uses more resources and so taking a supplement ensures that you don't get low on what you need.

Hey

hey hun

As soon as i found out i was preg i started taking pregnacare with the omega, i took it until i was about 16wks preg as my sis-inlaw who has 2 lil girls told that i didnt need to be taking it after 13 weeks. At first i wasnt too sure but as long as you have a balanced diet your baby should get everything it needs.
I went for my 20wk scan about 3weeks ago and my baby was fine, measurements were bag on for my dates.

I guess really its your decision if you want to continue them i would say that if you arent having a balanced diet where lets say your not eating much fruit or fish etc then you can keep taking it but nothing will happen to your baby if you do or dont continue taking pregnacare.

You deff have not made the baby hyper, when they are that smal land even now at my stage they move around alot because they still have so much space to do so.

Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy

Hey

I'm taking prenacare too and i wanted to know exactly the same thing. The books say you can stop taking it and i have read the pregnacare leaflet and it said to keep taking it as the other vitamins are good for the baby.

I would love to know what other people have done.
