sciatica

Hello Ladies and Bumps....

Has anyone suffered with Sciatica?
My mum thinks I have it....I have been getting really sharp pains on my lower back, bum and thigh, for a couple of weeks now, and never really thought about it, but after mentioning it to my mum, she thinks its deffinatly Sciatica.

Has anyone else had this? The pain isnt always there... its normally if i have been sitting or lying down for a long time?

Having a bit of a shitty day today... in pain and other half has gone off with his mates....
But little girl has been kicking lots... cheers me up.

Hope your all okay... any advice would be great

Hi,

Hi yeah sounds like sciatica if it is a shooting pain, mine can go the whole way down my leg.

Go to a physio, prob private if you can as NHS prob wont do anything, but they should be able to safely massage and prod into the area that is causing the sciatica and allivaiate the pain a bit.

Sciatica is when your sciatic nerve gets pinched and therefore sends shooting pains down the entire nerve, which runs down your leg. During pregnacy the spine compresses due to the extra pressure and the bump pulling you forward, The physio should be able to ease the compressing of the spine and therefore ease the sciatica. He wont be able to cure it though as the spine is under too uch pressure from your ever increaing bump, but should be able to help!

Hope that is off some help!

Me too

Hia Kat,

I am 18 weeks and I am suffering sciatica too.

I am in agony with it. Doesn't matter if i sit for a while, lie in bed or i'm moving around am feeling pain.

I havn't been to the docs as I know there is nothing they can do about it. My mum has given me one of those microwave heat thingy ma jigs lol and that really does the trick. I'b back in work tomorrow after a week off on annual leave & I am dreading it but someone has advised me to go get a heat pad that you can stick on your back & they last 8hrs.

Hope this helps, if you find out any more info that will help let me know,

TC Sara & 18 week +1 bump x x xx
