My birth story...

This is a very long one!!

It started on Friday 7th Aug. I went into the day unit around 9.30pm as i hadent felt my 10 movements. I was put on the monitor & baby was fine but my BP was sky high (110/158) My BP had been erfect throughout this pregnancy (i had pre eclampsia with my first)
I was admitted straight away, put on limited amout of fluids & 24hr urine collection. Had a canular in my wirst & regular bloods.

Finally 2 days later i was discharged with BP tablets & was told to come back the next day (Mon) to check my BP & bloods again.

Monday everything was fine & sent home & had to go back on the Thursday.

Tuesday i saw my MW for my 38wk check & everything was fine apart from my bump hadent grown since 36wks (36cm) & she was worried that my high BP had caused my placenta to stop working. So i was told to go back to the day unit the next day.

Wednesday i went in & had all usual checks again & was booked in for a growth scan for Friday. MW decided to give me a membrane sweep & found i was already 3cm! If the sweep didnt work i had to go back the next day for checks again.

I had the sweep at 12.30pm. Had a few twinges all day so i rung my OH to come home from work just incase. He said he would finish his job then make his way home & was working a good 3hrs away!! (no rush eh!) At 5pm it had all stopped!!
So i made my OH take us to the the Asda to get a few bits for labour bag etc. At the Asda i had constant backache & this carried on.
Got home at 6pm & OH made dinner. Kept getting contractions every 20mins or so then they would stop for a hour etc.

Finally around 10pm they started getting abit more regular. At 11pm i rung labour suite as i was getting contractions every 2-3mins when i was walking around but every 5-10mins when i was on my ball but i could easily talk thru them. MW said to wait at home abit longer & to get in the bath.
Got in the bath at 11.30pm & i told my OH to ring his mum to come up to watch Olivia.
Got out at 11.50pm & set off to the hospital.

Finally got to labour ward & got checked out at 12.35am & i was a good 5cm.

Got put into a room, started on gas & air & i asked for a epidural straight away.
MW started preping me for my epidural & they couldnt get the anethistist (sp) to come & put it in my back till they had my blood results back. She said something about platelets & didnt want me to bleed to death.

At 1.30am i shouted to my OH that i was weeing myself!! MW checked me & it was my hind waters & i was 6cm.

Around 2.15am i had a feeling in my bum. So MW checked me again & i was 10cm!

She broke my forewaters at 2.30am & i started to push.

Baby Lexie arrived at 2.45am weighing 6lbs exactly measuring 48cm long. She was 11 days early.

In my notes it says 1st stage of labour 1hr 55mins, 2nd stage 15mins, 3rd stage 5mins!! I def think the raspberry leaf tea helped again! I had no stitches & my contractions were very strong but i had a good break between them.

Love Stacey, Olivia 20 months old & Lexie 26 days old!!
