Pregnant with an overactive thyroid

Hi I have just found out I'm pregnant with my 3rd child. In between the birth of my last baby and now I've discovered I've got an overactive thyroid due to Graves Disease, I'm stable now and on pregnancy friendly medication, I'm not particularly worried but just wondered if anyone is or has been pregnant with an overactive thyroid, I am seeing an endocrinologist regularly and he said that pregnancy can actually help the symptoms so he may be able to decrease my mediaction dosage but everyone I speak seems to think differently about it, would be great to hear any personal experiences instead of just the medical ones.

Hi evathediva

Hi I'm only 5 weeks but otherwise just the same as you, I was on carbimazole with a gradually lower dosage until i was stable then they changed me to ptu although I'm on 100 a day but see endocrin man next week so might change the dosage a bit. So far I feel good still, I hadn't realised how bad I had felt until the tablets started to work and I felt normal again and looking back at photos I looked pretty shocking I can't believe I didn't notice at the time. I've also heard it can get worse again once you've had the baby, they think I had been borderline for a while and having my last baby just made it shoot right up.
Thanks for replying it's nice to hear from someone with the same thing, when I say I've got graves disease most people have no idea what I'm talking about.
Hope it continues to go well for you
xx
