Nursing while pregnant

I've just found out I'm pregnant, which is odd since I'm about 12 weeks already. I had no symptoms this time around! Anyway, my question is about nursing while pregnant. Is this safe for me, my baby, and the fetus? I'm asking because I'm currently breastfeeding my son, Galen, who is just about 14 months old. Should I wean, or is it safe to continue nursing him? I wasn't planning on weaning him until about 18 months, which is what I did with my older child, Estelle (4). Anybody have any idea?

Thanks,

Ramona, Estelle, Galen, and 12-wk surprise!

I would..

Ask this question over on b+t ( baby and toddler ) they seem to know more about weaning/nursing.
I would say it's time to wean him, as I'm not sure whether it's safe to continue nursing him whilst your pregnant.
Other than that, Google it.

Sorry I can't help, I just HATE seeing posts with no replies!!

Oh, okay!

Hi, Kirsti!

Thank you, and don't worry about not giving advice. I googled it and they said it is pretty much safe, especially with a "older" child who doesn't rely solely on breastmilk for nourishment. So, I can wean or let him continue for another few months. I think I may just ask my MW and maybe Galen's pediatrician at our next visits, just to get their opinions on whether it is safer for me during pregnancy and whether he is at a good enough weight to wean already.

Thanks, sweetie, and good luck with bump there! Any good names?

Love,

Ramona, Estelle, Galen, and bump

Ahh that's good then. Yeah just ask MW next time you see her. She will know best.
Awww thanks! Ermm no I haven't got ANY names at all yet!! Which is pretty bad, seen as my waters are leaking and I've had a show and contractions!! Eeeek.
Well I thought I was in labour yesterday and it was a false alarm
My first was reallllly early, she was born at 24 weeks. So I wouldn't be suprised if this one came early too.

Good luck with your bump too hun, do stick around. It's an excellent site for advice. It saved my life!!

Welcome to SoFem by the way

Hope to talk to you more!

Omigosh!!

Wow, sweets, that's crazy! I hope this baby holds out a bit longer for ya, then...but do let me know!

Daisy is such a sweet name, so I hope you find the perfect one for this newbie as well...I think Elise is cute! Feminine and charming...

Gosh, I've got loads of names I love, but I can't pick at all! I mean, I don't know what goes best with Estelle and Galen, and then I obviously don't know if I'm carrying a boy or girl. Callista, Cassius, Cecily, Cormac, Lark, Lennox, Leona, Liv, Lola, Luther, Paisley, Perrin, Pierce, Poppy, and Presley! I have a thing for those letters this time 'round, too...weird.

Good luck, Kirsti!

Love,

Ramona, Estelle, Galen, and 12-wk bump

I LOVE Lola! That's a lovely name. If I have a girl I think she will be a Lola.
Daisy would like that as well cause it's like the program Charlie and Lola ha ha!

I like Tyler and Rhys for a boy, but I don't know. Think I'll just see what they look like when they come out!

Thanks hun. Good luck to you as well.xx

Oh ahaha

Yes, indeed. Estelle enjoys that one, too. Lola and Daisy is darling! Rhys is just so cute, too! My sister named her firstborn Rhys - he is just an adorable baby boy

Gosh, now I'm really into this whole naming thing! Eric thinks I'm nuts to think about this so soon...but, I can't help myself! So exciting I think!

Estelle Veronica Burton
Galen Anthony Burton

Hmmm...I'm loving Cecily, Liv, Perrin, and Cassius quite a bit! Cecily Juliet Burton, Liv Alexandra Burton, Perrin Nathaniel Burton, Cassius Edward Burton? Maybe I'll get twinnies and get to use two names!!!

Hope your week goes well, Kirsti!

Love,

Ramona, Estelle (4), Galen (14 months), and 12-wk bump!!!
