Hey hun
I havnt had any previous babies to this one but I did have an Elective C-Sec. THURS: I didnt have a straight forward nice one (if there is such a thing) I lost a lot of blood and it took over 1 1/2 hours longer then it should have!! Luckily I didnt need a transfussion tho. I was taken from theatre to the recovery room where I was given Archie, we stayed there about half hour then I was taken back to the ward. I cant say I was in an awful lot of pain (aware of it), the Epidural was still working and I had had pessaries!! I had a drain in my belly and a urinary catheter! That night I was in discomfort, they gave me painkillers every 4 hours (DO NOT REFUSE ANY PAINKILLERS)!! They also will help you feed the baby as you cant get out of bed due to your catheter, also you dont feel the need to pee. FRI: The next day, I felt ok (I thought), they removed my drains and catheter, oh and drip (you'll have that too), then I had a lavender bath which was nice. That night tho, I felt awful, I was in a lot of pain (I think I'd done too much too soon!!), I also found out that if I needed pain relief I had to ask fo it, I thought I'd just get it!! They dont help so much with the baby either!! SAT: They wanted to send me home, but because I had had such a bad night I asked to stay, again, I needed the pain relief every 4 hours. SUN: I asked to go home, I probably wasnt ready but it is really noisy on the ward and I needed sleep!! The next few days I was in some discomfort, I couldnt really lift him, not even to get him out of the crib, I was still taking painkillers every 4 hours. By the 3rd week tho I was almost back to normal, doing most things. I did get MRSA in my wound and I have had 2 Uterine infections since!
This is worse case, most C-Sec are absolutely fine. BUT you will need help with the 21mth old, you wont be able to lift her, you also cant drive for 6 weeks!
I hope this has been of some help hun Take care Adele xx
