"Is it necessarily normal to be small?"

Ok so here goes... I am 68 inches tall and i weighed 164 before i got pregnant. I have gained about 5 pounds and i have noticed small changes in my abdomine as far as it went from flat to rounded off, but it is a tiny change. I am 16 weeks 1 day and i was wondering if it was normal to have retained a smaller figure, especially since i am not a tiny girl. Shouldn't i be getting ready to have a bump that is noticable soon? should i be worried if i don't?

"I'm 35 weeks and i'm small!!"

I'm 35 weeks pregnant now but as of last week, I've only gained a total of 3kg. I do eat a lot, hungry every now and then, and eat healthy food. I was worried about this at first, but after ultrasound, the doctor assured me that my baby is growing perfectly, of perfect size and weight and that there's nothing I should be worried about.
My mother and elder sis did not gain much when they were pregnant too, so I guess it runs in my family.
So I guess as long as you're taking in sufficient nutrition, and that your baby is growing fine, its normal.

Everyone carries differently, I would say at 16 weeks its more normal to be small than big - especially if you are not 'a tiny girl'. I didn't really show until after 16 weeks - and I never wore maternity clothes and all was well and good.

Enjoy your bump when it does arrive!
