Hi,

I have suffered from spd in both my pregnacies too, was on crutches for the last two months of my first pregnancy. Have not been quite as bad this time, as have an amazing belt which holds my prlvis together, (http://www.appliedbiomechanics.co.uk/) definatley recommend it! However there are some days that I would use crutches if it was practical, have a 20 month old and no way I can run after her on crutches!

As far as i know and have experienced, hospitals are normally not keen on offering c-sections for SPD as it is 'only' a pain in the mother and doesn't affect the baby at all. And a c-section would mean delivering the baby before you naturally went into labour, therefore earlier than the baby was ready for (if that makes sense?)

I know how painful and debilitating SPD can be and how desperate you can be for some relief but this is not normally a form that is offered. As well as support belts and crutches you can take some 'safe' painkillers, either perscribed or co-codimal to help with the pain. Also go for a water birth, (you don't actually have to give birth in the water, just labour in it.) as this will support your pelvis during the labour and hopefully hekp with the pain, however do remember to not part your legs more than you can do in the dry as well, as isn't good for your pelvis.

Don't know if that was of any use or if anyone has heard differently about c-sections, but thats what it is like in my area.

Kat, Avilee (20 months) and 37+4 week bump
