Just had midwife appointment

Hey ladies and bumps

So just had my midwife over, although she is lovely im just worried about a couple of things although she doesnt seem to be too concerned.

Firstly she asked me how i have been feeling, i told her ive been ok but just super tired beyond belief. She looked at me and did say that i look pale and we talked about whether i get out of breathe alot to which i replied yes, so she told me shes pretty much convinced im anemic which i suspected anyhow. She took blood test so it can be confirmed but left me some iron tablets to take.

We did my blood pressure and thats fine no problem there. Next we did urine sample, last one i did 2 weeks ago with a diff mw (my mw got married) was fine, this time not so
She said that urine looks very cloudy and then did the test and said that nitrates were present. So instead of flushing away pee as normal she took sample with her.
Has anyone else had this and it not be anything serious?

Took blood also for glucose level but she thinks that will come out fine, so fingers crossed.

Measured bump as last time the mw that came was with a trainee and it was the trainee that measured me and said i was 23cm at 25wks although i had stated i felt moves alot higher up.

So this time with my own mw measuring me, she said that im measuring 28cm which is fine as im 27wks today but she was quite upset that the mw didnt check for herself at the time and just went with what the trainee said

So yes im worried first about the pee being sent off, the glucose test AND the blood test for anemia. My mw said she thinks everything is fine and that it wont be anything serious but i cant help but worry now ( even more then i already do!)

Lots of hugs Emmy & 27wk bump

Hey hun

Firstly, I really wouldnt worry about the aneamia, I have been aneamic throughout my pregnancy, and it poses no threat to your bubs and is really easily solvable. I have been taking SpaTone, which is a natural iron supplement that goes in your drink, you can get it from Holland and Barratt and its really good. Also try and eat more red meat, good excuse for a steak or two i say!!

Not sure about the pee, but mine is often cloudy and its normally fine. Dont worry about you're bloods hun, some people measure a little bigger or smaller each way and its fine, as long as its not over 4 weeks I think.
The blood test is just routine at this stage, to rule things out.

I am no midwife but I think you are just knackered cos of the aneamia, get some green beans down ya!!

Hope you feel better soon.

Hannah 34+5 bumpx

Thank you

Once again thank you for being someone that has taken time to reassure me , especially since you have aneamia aswell. Seriously sometimes its easy to become a lil down when no one replies just because we all need a lil help and reassurance time to time.

Funnily enough where i work we sell SpaTone and im always advising ladies to take it if they are aneamic, become during pregnancy and also once bubs is born. So maybe i should take my own advice.

Mw left me some pills called pregaday, but once those are finished i shall buy spatone Yeah she told me to eat alot of fruit n veg especially citrus fruits and spinach and of corse red meat.

Measurements im not worried about i was more so 2 wks ago as i knew i was haing movements further up and to be told by a "professional" that i was measuring 2 wks small and that fundas was alot lower was worrying. But bubs is at 28cm so im happy about that

Once again thank you so much, i was a real mess, have cried quite abit, poor huby has to keep reassuring me, easier said then done tho!

Dont worry

hey chick,

try not to worry too much it sounds like u could be anaemic but this will show up in your bloods and can be easily treated, just think at least everythings working and little bubs is taking what they need.adjust your diet and take plenty of iron rich foods.

not entirley sure about the bump size thing but it sounds positive that u are measuring correct now.

as for the urine sometimes when there are things present in a dip stick test it could be a sign of an infection, that is why it has now been sent to the lab they will see if any bacterial cultures grow in it and if so can advise which antibiotic u may require.this is very common in pregnancy and again can be very easily treated, quite often these come back negative, the cloudiness may just be because u might not have drank enough that day?!it can really be that simple
in the meantime just drink plenty of water and cranberry juice is pretty good for flushing out your system. and try to relax you will be fine

take care, lou and 13+4 bubs xxx

ps i know these things because im a nurse, not a midwife but still know some things
