Keep it a surprise!!

Hi Ems

I found out with my first but not with my second and can tell you me and hubbie plus whole family founf it so much more exciting not knowing. When the baby is born, loads of people ask what you've had instead of how much did it weigh!! Personally, i'll not find out if i have another one!

thank you for all your replies!!

well i think i will just see how we both feel on the day???
as we may both feel different when we are in there and have the oppertunity to know or they may not be able to tell us so we shall see!!

but thank you again!!

That's what we did....

At first we said we didn't want to know, then on the day we asked and she said are you sure, there was a silence then we said yes. She couldn't see what we where having at first so we relxed... 2 mins later she blurted "oh, it's a little girl" out. Well, i have 3 boys and didn't expect a lady!! I nearly fell off the bed with shock!! What do i do with a girl???

Anyway, i am glad i found out in the end and have bundles of pink items filling our bedroom....

i thought it was nice to have a surprise

My first baby is just over 8wks old and we didn't find out the sex- although we both had strong feelings it would be a boy and we were right!!

We did consider finding out but we don't get a 20wk scan in our area and if we did the hosp wouldn't tell you so you need to go for a private scan. It was hard but not having a 2nd scan probably helped as we didn't have much choice. We just bought unisex outfits although there is not much choice out there- I think if I knew the sex I would have bought too much and wasted alot of money- I'm bad enough now he is here and wanting to buy him loads!

It's up to you though at the end of the day, we have talked about if we have a 2nd baby we might find out then but try not to tell anyone- which is impossible for me!! I can't keep my mouth shut... lol!

Good Luck whatever you decide!

Eileen and Calum 8wks and 1 day xx

i found out

Hey I wanted to find out the sex purely because, I had such a bad time with the 12 week scan etc that I just wanted to know, too have some good news! My OH couldnt come to the 16 week scan with me, so i asked the lady to write the sex on a bit of paper, and put it in an envelope, so me and OH could open it together when we got home, it was great!!

I am happy that i found out the sex as it means i can be organised, and buy lots of Pink!!
But at the end of the day its a personal decision between u and your OH!
All the best

Hi

my friend and her OH were the same so she found out and he didn't, she didn't tell anyone who could let slip to him and even decorated the nursery and just told him if you dont want to know then dont go in there at all as it was decorated for a girl and all the little pink outfits hung in the wardrobe. He never found out until she were born! Hope you agree soon on something (preferably by getting your own way) and if all else fails, - pregnancy tears lol.
good luck.

We were exactly the same!!

I was desperate to find out the baby's sex and OH was so against it. We didn't even consider it with our daughter, but I wanted to this time as I thought it would help my daughter bond with baby if she knew the sex.

When we got in the room to have the scan, my OH changed his mind and wanted to know the sex too!! I was soooo pleased and excited... Only to find that baby had it's legs crossed and they couldnt tell us anyway lol!! I was gutted

HOWEVER... I am now soooo pleased I don't know the sex, it's real excitement now were so close to baby coming!

I would defo say if it's your first then have a surprise... It's great!!

Alex, Megan (5) and surprise baby bump that will be here in 14 days!!! xx

Hello

me and b/f are dying to know so thats no really an issue with us. i suppose its each to their own really. personally i dont get it when ppl say itl b a suprise, well i know for defo its going to be either a boy or a girl so where's the suprise, lol. im just impatient with things, lol, i want to know yesterday hee hee.
maybe when you have the scan and you both know you could just find out there and then you might both want to know.
good luck and hope you come to an agreement youre both happy with

Depends...

With our first baby, my husband wanted to know, but I definitely did not, so he said that it was my choice, as I was the one who was pregnant. However, the sonographer absentmindedly referred to the baby as she during the scan (only once, and swiftly, but it was out there), so I wasn't exactly shocked when Isabella was born!

This time I said it was my husband's choice (only fair) and am looking forward to knowing. There are pros and cons each way - because we didn't know for absolutely certain, we have a ton of unisex baby clothes for this next baby early on, which is good in case it's a boy, but it will be nice to have a few blue/pink things this time. Some say it helps you to bond with the idea of your baby quicker but I think babies are kind of androgynous up to about 6 months anyway

Why don't you see how you feel on the day? I guess you've got another 5 or so weeks to weigh it all up.

Whichever you choose, the birth moment of meeting your baby will still be amazing!
