The mother-in-law!

Hiya,
I was just wondering if people could offer their thoughts on this.

I get on well with my mother in law-I dont see her often, but when I do, we're all good. She has 3 boys and I am really keen to involve her (as well as my mum) in the preparations for the baby, shopping etc as I know it would mean alot to her and she is really lovely She wont be able to do this with her own daughter so I want to include he.

But: how do I invite her shopping without her thinking that I want her to buy things-which I dont. Her other son is a real sponger and I know she sometimes feels put on to lend him money /buy stuff etc. How can I approach her without her thinking : "Oh yeah I know what's coming, wallet at the ready!"

Thanks people

Just be honest with her and say you want to involve her as much as possible you could even invite her along with your mum and when she does go and if she says ill get it so no dont be silly i needed your help not your money... let her buy some though my mum spoiled this one rotton and my MIL got the cot...

Hi

well might be nice to mention that you are going to go shopping, just bring it up in conversation and just say, hey youre welcome to come and keep me company if you like. makes it sound like the offer is there for her to join you without saying come spend with me, lol.
good luck
