Where do babies come from? - kids are asking!

Hiya!

I'm new to the site, but I just wanted to bop in because I've been having an issue that is really bothering me lately and I can't seem to get really good advice! So, I'm pregnant with my fourth child right now, actually VERY pregnant (we are due in ONE week)! Hubby and I have three young girls at home who are very interested in the baby and have lately been asking me "where do babies come from?" or "how did the baby get in your belly, mommy?" or "how does the baby get born, momma?" - you know the type. Just wondering, what should I say at this point? What is appropriate for them to hear? This has only really become an issue in these last few weeks of pregnancy, but I don't want them to go ask the next pregnant woman they see (especially since one of their teachers is pregnant at school) - so embarrassing!

Thanks,

Ally

Hi!

When my boys were younger and my sister was expecting they asked the same questions. I found a book that explained things in a simple way but told it factually. I read it with the boys and explained anything they didn't understand. It came in very useful as they got older and asked more questions.

It is called My Amazing Journey by Pat Thomas and it is well worth using.

Thank you!

Thank you for that suggestion, Nicki! I will send Josh out to get it so I can talk to the girls about this hopefully before the baby arrives - God knows I won't have time once he or she is born!

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!
