Over due!!!

I cant belive that my due date has come and gone already. Im convinced nothing is going to get this baby out and that im going to end up being induced.

Im having a sweep today so am allowing myself to be ever so slightly hopeful that it will help but im not holding out much hope.

Has anyone had a sweep and had it fail/ work??? what happens if the sweep wont work what does the midwife do next???

Any tips would be appreciated. Hope all ladies and bumps are well

Hi,

I was induced with my daughter.

I had a sweep but don't think it worked, can't remember how many days after sweep I had my daughter. think I had the sweep at 40 weeks and started labour at 41 weeks so sweep didn't bring that on.

However labour stopped after 24 hours and they decided to induce me as my daughter wasn't moving as much. They gave me a pessery which is a gel that they rub on your cervix (same hormone as is in sperm) and labour started again an hour later, so if you want to help things along, I would recommend having sex (if you can bear it at this stage) as that would be a more natural way of getting things moving!

Hi Kirst!! Both my girls were overdue, my eldest was overdue by 13 days and i had to be induced and my youngest was overdue by 11 days. I had a sweep with her on day 8 and had a show on the night of day 9, suffered labour pains within 12 hours and had her on day 11, very naturally, 26 hours of labour and 2 paracetamols!! If a sweep doesnt work, the doctor will give you a date to come in and be induced, they never leave you more than 14 days. I was induced by the midwife rubbing a cream of some sorts around my cervix twice in 12 hours and bob's your uncle!!
