Moan coming up................sorry but feeling so low.....

Hey ladies and bumps

I just need a moan really and I dont have anyone else to moan at!!

After my OH propsed on Thursday night he then worked from home Friday so we spent the majority of the day together and then as another suprise present he took me to the Zoo on Saturday and out for lunch on Sunday. I have had a fantastic weekend and didnt want it all to come to an end!!!

Anyways, I rang my mum and dad and told them the news on Friday when they were on their way back from their holiday in Corfu. By then Richard had told me we were going for lunch on Sunday and to invite my family along so we could celebrate our engagement. Well I asked my dad on the phone and he said yes we will be there, my brother and his girlfriend had to confirm and my sister and her boyfriend wanted us to go to my parents house instead. I said that it was Richard's plan and I wasnt going to change it and we ended up arguing and then no-one came out for lunch with us!!!!

We went out regardless and had a good time anyway, but we then arranged that in 2 weeks time we will meet half way between our houses and do lunch then, everyone agreed except my sister and my mum who think 1.30pm is to early for Sunday Lunch, the place we are going too do a normal menu too on a Sunday so they could have a light lunch too.

So it was my birthday on Thursday and I didnt see any of my family and both my brother and my sister couldnt even post my cards to me!!! and I still havent seen them! And to top it off we got engaged and I still havent seen my family even when they were invited out for lunch!!!!

All I wanted to do was celebrate, albeit a bit late, my birthday and engagement with my family and it was far to difficult for any of them to make a effort to come over!!!! Its not like we live 100 miles apart or more they are only 25miles away!!!!

And on top of that after our great few days together my OH has now got to stay away for work all week!!!!

Sorry for the moan but really needed to get it off my chest!!

Families can sometimes be a complete a***.

I know what you mean as no matter what happens in our family i'm always the bad guy and my brother is totally the blue eyed boy!! And my sister well i won't even go there, i will speak to her out of politeness and for the sake of my parents, luckily she doesn't live in the UK so i don't have to often.

What i tend to do is distance myself everytime they have hacked me off, you enjoy your celebrations, if they don't want to join you or can't make it, stuff them, they are the ones loosing out.

I tend to make it clear i am hacked off with them and then don't make any effort in contacting them for ages, they normally leave me for a bit to calm down then they come crawling.

I bet if it was one of your sisters getting engaged and you acted like they have you'd be made to look like the bad guy.

Well stuff them all i say, you have your OH who sounds amazing,(best not tell him us girls are saying that cos he'll get a big head) your beautiful daughter Ellie and the bean growing inside you, they are your family oh and of course us girlies.

Just don't let them get to you and you enjoy celebrating. If you really want them there for a meal i'd re-book the meal for 2pm and say i have made it later for you, i'd love you to be there, if you don't come then i will be upset but it's your choice and i bet you any money they will be there.

Family!!

Family!!! you cant pick them!! I know how hard it is too get family together, and too be honest it was your Birthday and your engagement (big congrats by the way) so they should have all made a big special effort.... But you obviously have a great, supportive OH...... and you can start looking through wedding.. and Baby Magazines!!!

Cant be too much help.. sorry.. keep your chin up though... and moan away!!

I can't believe your family didnt even get you cards, unfortunatly you cant pick your family just your friends and partner which you obviously did very well he seems like such a great guy..

Sorry cant help much on this one as theres no solution other than to try not to let it upset you if it cant be changed then its not worth it... so i'll just give you a big virtual hug and say moan away as its all you can do...
