Birth story

Hey girls, thanks for all your lovely messages.

Well, here we go, I went for a hot bath at 10.30pm on Wednesday night because I was feeling a bit down and needed to relax for a while. Went to bed at 11.30pm and I started getting a lot of pressure in my bum so I attempted to ignore it for a while but by 12am it was getting to much and I thought I needed to give birth. Phoned the hospital and the midwife wasn't too sure if I was in labour or not but thought it was best for me to get checked out.

Me and my bf got there before half 12.30am, had all the usual checks, bp, urine etc. Everything was fine, the midwife checked my cervix at 1.30am and I was 4 cm dilated. Then the midwife informed me I was defo getting contractions (didn't have them with my son so I had no idea lol). Baby was back to back and that's why I was getting the urge to push so early on. At half 2 my mum arrived and by 3.30am I was in agony (I'm such a pansy lol) so I had some lovely gas and air, sometime later on I had dia-morphine as the gas and air wasn't enough. The midwife checked me again at 6am and I was 6cm dilated. By now the midwife was trying to get me to lie on my side to encourage the baby to move position. Anyway at 8.57am my beautiful daughter entered the world after 9 ish hours of labour and 27 mins of pushing weighing 8lb 6oz. I didn't need stitches and got away with just some grazing.

She is perfect but has positional talipes in her right foot so I have to do some physio exercises with her foot every nappy change. I have to see my gp about Lily's leg being different too, seems to be positioned differently but finger's crossed that it will be nothing.

Sorry if I was rambling there. lol

Love Toni, Rhys (17months) and Lily (2days) x x x

Well done!

Congratulations on such a successful birth!

Sounds like you did brilliantly! I Have been having pressure in my bum the last few days evry 10/15 mins, but hasn't developed into anything yet, heres hoping though!

8lbs 6oz is a lovely weight and I'm sure Lilly's leg and foot will sort themselves out. Either way she looks perfect to me!

Take care and I hope she sleeps and feeds well for you so you can get some rest!

Aw hun,

sounds like you did brilliantly, well done! Just sneaked a look at pics and she's absolutely gorgeous you must be really proud. Kaitlyn was back to back but no-one realised til the last minute and I had an awful time so really glad you coped so well, what a trooper! Best of luck with the gp about Lily's leg, sure it'll turn out to be nothing and the physio will do the trick with her foot too, try not to stress about it and just enjoy her, they're not little for long Kaitlyn's coming up on a whole year old in a few weeks and I feel like I've blinked and missed it! Hope you're both doing well, congrats again hun.

Loadsa love,
Clare and Kaitlyn xxx

Congrats!

That's great - sounds like a very straight forward birth which is brilliant! Especially as you were concerned in the early days about having a large baby. 8lb 6 is a wonderful size. I am so pleased for you all.

I am sure that her leg will right itself in time. There is little wonder that babies sometimes have a few problems when they have been curled up inside for months.

I *loved* gas and air when having my daughter but after 15 hours of it, I didn't even know my own name, let alone know how to push so hope to try and have less this time. But let's see how labour treats me (when I get there).

Due date today but no sign. It's weird waiting around wanting the pain to start! Until then, I will sit here on my sofa watching the Fat Doctor marathon while eating left over takeaway.....

Well done Toni and lots of love to the rest of the family

were the contractions as bad as you thought??

love suzanne 30 weeks today woohooo. xxxxxx

Hey suzanne

No it wasn't too bad at all. The contractions were bad at the end but the drugs defo helped but the earlier contractions were ok, i didn't even know i was having them lol.

I think I have put the pics up ok, should be able to see them soon.

Not too long for you now, good luck hun

Love Toni, Rhys and Lily x x x

Wooohooo!
