11 week scan and question bout mw!

Hi to all ladies and bumps! I had my 11 week scan yest and still all good! Bubs was rather more sleepy but think he/she was making the most of my gym rest day!!! I usually go to a spin class before work and every other time it has looked like he/she was still cycling!! We did manage to get another wave though! Actually it made me laugh and with a camera up the jaxy the vibrations made bubs active for a bit and rub its eyes! So just one more scan for me at the fertility clinic then its into the unknown................ gonna invest in a doppler as soon as i return from scan next tues. Going to be a complete nightmare with worry now! Am seeing the mw for my 1st appointment tomorrow - what happens and can my DH come too? He is keen but is it the done thing? Will they take bloods Yup! Bit of a wimp there too I am afraid! I know my GP has requested me having consultant lead care but not confirmed yet. I have heard horror stories bout people discovering no heartbeat at various stages and my friend lost one at 14 weeks so hope to feel bit better after that. But in reality I guess there are no guarantees in this business!!! I will end on more positive note......I am pleased I have had no morning sickness, just tiredness.....so far!!!

Anyway, hope everyone is well and bumps are behaving!

Love and hugs.

Hiya ems

I went to my first mw appointment and OH came too as they would like to know all your details including OH's as well for any medical history blah, blah, blah. but he won't be coming to all the appointments as there isn't much need and because of his job too but i did tell him he def has to come to the scan though.

Not sure about your bloods etc.. as with our surgery they changed the bloody rules etc.. so we have to be informed with an info booklet about the blood tests etc.. before they can take any bloods so i'll be going back to mw before i go for my scan for them to take my bloods.

Oh hun i'm sure everything is gonna be fine just take one day at a time.

take care love, hugs and happy bumps

Hey hun

Im not sure if your consultant has done all this but if not in your first mw appt she will.

You will have about 7 bloods done to determine everything from your iron levels to blood type and just making sure you have no parasites etc.
You will have your height and weight done, blood pressure and urine test (which is done there and then to check for protein (altho way to early for that) and other things such as infection.

The midwife will just talk you through everything she is doing and what will happen in your next appt which could be anywhere from 4-6wks time.
Although like you i had bloods i think it depends on who is doing it, my mw comes over to my house for all our appts and only once with her has it been slightly painful apart from that ive barely felt a thing lol.

Also with your worries , deff a good idea to get a foetal doppler, i bought one at 16wks from ebay (angelsounds) and i love it , best thing ever. Was £25.99 and came with the gel for it which lasts ages but you can also use normal body lotion, i use my stretch mark cream liek that after i just rub it in rather then wiping it off lol One sure way of remembering to apply it!

Wishing you all the best

Hello my dear

Great news that everything is hunky dory!

They will take bloods and book you in to a particular hospital. Its a bit of a boring appointment Im afraid hun. My OH has only ever come to scans, I always go alone to the midwife appointments as they are rather quick and routine. I see no reason why your man shouldnt accompany you if that is what you wish.

As for the horror stories, for every person who has lost a baby, there are far more that havent, theres a baby boom out there hun and you are very much part of it, I believe you have like a 96% chance of going full term!!
However it is natural to worry, I still worry that something will going wrong and Im full term!
Dopplers are great, been an absoulote saviour for me as I am a worry wort too!!

Glad you are feeling better.

Love Hannah and wriggly bump(37+4)xx

Hi!

My hubby has been to all of my midiwfe/doctor appointments as well as the hospital appointments as well!

I bought a doppler of ebay as we had had several miscarriages and it was reassuring to hear the heartbeat...but when it is so small it can be hard to find so you need to chill out abit in the early weeks.

I was down for consultant led care because of my age andf the miscarriages but was switched to midwiferty led care at the 20 week mark as everything was going ok.

It is hard but you have to try to remain positive and take each milestone as it comes.
