Birth story & baby has a name

Hello all you mummies and bumps!!

Hope your all well! Sorry for not posting before now but I haven't known if I am coming or going lol!!

Well anyway we have choosen a name for our baby boy... Joe!! He will be named Joseph but we will call him Joe. We had a nightmare trying to choose one as nothing seemed to suit him lol.

Now for the birth...

Well we arrived at the hospital at 8am, and was taken to a bed. They strapped me up to the monitors, took my BP etc, and she brought me a gown, and some very sexy anti-embolism socks! We were very chilled sat listening to baby's heartbeat, and watching him trying to kick the monitors off lol!

The MW returned to check the monitor reading at 9:15, and she said she would leave me for another 10 mins, ad then come back to go through some stuff with me.... well she walked away and did a sharp u-turn to tell me theatre were ready for me, and I needed to get into my gown and socks asap!! I was soooooo scared! I was expecting to be put back until after 10am, preparing for any delays, and was really shocked that they wanted me early!! I started to panic (as I do lol) and OH tried his best to calm me down. We walked to theatre, and was taken to the anesthetic room where they explained everything to me, and signed my consent form. I was absoloutely petrified!! They then took me into theatre, and started my spinal block. They injected anesthetic first which really bloody hurt, and was actually the worst part as the area was then numb and when he put the needle in for the spinal all i could feel was a pressure feeling. They then lay me down and checked that I was numb by spraying ice cold spray down my side. It felt really weird, like pins and needles just as it goes numb! So frustrating too as I felt like i needed to moe my legs and couldnt lol!

Well anyway after what seemed like ages of them cutting, pushing, pulling, squashing by breast bone down... my OH said the head was out!! At 10:05 my baby boy was born, me and OH sobbed... we couldn't believe how perfect and tiny he was! He weighed in at 6lbs 15oz, and was 48cm long.

He is absoloutely adorable and we really can't believe our luck... two beautiful perfect children!!

He has his days and nights mixed up at the moment and is sleeping in the day and wants to feed all night lol, but I don't mind he is so very worth it!!

Hope all the new mummies and babies are doing well, as well as mummies and bumps!

Love and luck to you all

Alex, Megan (5) and baby Joe 6 days xxx

Congratulations!

Lovely to read your birth story. Am pleased everything went well. Bet you're relieved it's all over.

Joe is such a great name. I hope that he is being a good boy and that your daughter has taken to him as much as you two have.

Lots of love,
Lesley (still waiting....40+4...) xxx

I love the name Joe, is so sweet, can't wait to see pics!

The section sounds a lot less scary than I imagined, but I can understant how freaked you would have been, I think I would have been a shaking mess!

Anyway, glad it all went really well and many congratulations on your little boy!

I just had another sweep at midwife's (6 days over due now!) and she said that everything was favourable and that she wouldn't be surprised if that sweep did the job, so fingers crossed!

Many congrats again.
