Telling work and mat b1????????????

Hey ladies and bumps,

My OH and I work for the same company, he is out on the road and I work form home. As far as I am aware my OH has told the company that we are expecting,but seeing that it is me that is pregnant do you think I should tell them myself and should I do it by letter, email, or phone?!?!?! Do I need to tell them myself too?!?!

I am struggling to write a letter/email to HR to tell the properly that I am pregnant. I have written a email but I don't want it to sound formal nor do I want it to sound unprofessional! I rarely speak to anyone higher than me in the office so now this all seems bit scary!!!

I rang to book my next MW app which is my 28wk check up but my last employer said they needed my MAT B1 form at 21wks which is what I have read but the doctors say they are not issued now until 28wkks so no need to see my MW inbetween!!!

I am really confused now!!! Also, do I get normal maternity pay or maternity allowence? I only work 15 hours a week and really dont know waht I am doing this time around.

I just emailed them. All i basically said was that I was however many weeks pregnant and i intended to be absent from the office for 30 to 39 weeks from whichever date. it was about two lines long lol. they seemed happy enough with it.

I had to have a meeting with HR but that wasn't until i was 28wks so dont worry too much about that. I also got my MatB1 from my dr because my MW app was too far away. Its a little scrap of paper and they can give it you anytime from 20 wks but you have to be firm and insist that you need it.

As far as I know every employer has a different policy my love so you'll have to check with your company. Everyone is entitled to normal Maternity pay as far as I know (SMP) which is about £117 pw at he mo.
