My little girl has swine flu ...

...the poor thing was in flying form this morning and then all of a sudden just completly down hill. she is really out of sorts and tired and started vomiting and had a temp of 39.9c. swine flu was the last thing on my mind and i rang the doc on call because she kept vomiting up anything i was giving her for her temp, they told me to bring her in and then told me she had it.i just broke down crying, she's only 3 and its so horrible seeing her so sick. the doc gave me paralink to "insert up" to bring down her temp as i cant give her the tamiflu med until it goes down in case she vomits it back up again. its soooo scary how quick it took hold of her. ive to give her meds for 5 days and she's not allowed outside the house for 7-10days. i was given masks to wear and told to keep an eye on my temp in case i pick it up. im just wondering is it a fore gone conclusion that im going to get it??? terrified so i am for both her and this baby!

sorry for the rant girls! hope your all doing good! hope i didnt lower the mood with all the new babies and birth stories being posted! congrats to you all by the way!!!

well going to go see if i can get some sleep!

So sorry your little one has got swine flu, it really is nasty me and Holly have both had it a couple of months ago. Just wanted to reassure you how quickly little ones seem to recover from it, Holly had it when she was 6 months and was horrendous with temp of 39.8 and would not eat, she was far too young for the medication but calpol and baby ibuprofen brought the temp down (I was just lucky she kept it down), and after about 4-5 days she was getting much better. She actually recovered far quicker than I did! Oh and funnily enough - me and Holly had it but my OH never caught a thing and we were all sleeping in the same room. Weird or what!

Really hope she is on the mend now hun, it's horrible seeing our little ones ill isn ... Nasty swine flu

...hi girls and thanks for your replies and words of encouragement! really apprieciate it!

well the update is good, she's in great form this evening! DH is up giving her a wee bath at the min and then ill put her down for the night. she's going to sleep in our bed with him and ill sleep in her room, have it completely cleaned and steralized and clean sheets the lot, at least that way we should all get some sleep as we got very little last night!! such a long long day though. spent it cleaning and wiping and mopping, thought it would never end, but at least she's perked up and hopefully she'll stay that way!

thanks all again and hope your all doing good on this freezing oct night ...

Hi orla

My sister was 20 weeks when she got swine flu. Her son was sick with so she took him to the docs and he diagnosed swine flu. He said there was no point giving her the Tamiflu as she was over the worst of it. She said it wasn't as bad as she thought it was going to be and she and the baby are both fine.

My husband had swine flu and was really poorly but I only had it very mildly it was like a cold - I didn't even take any pain killers which wasn't like me. I didn't take the Tamiflu either, I didn't want to risk it - I know that's a personal choice I'm not saying it's right one way or another.

I'd try to relax as much as possible, both you and your daughter are going to be fine. I know it must be really hard seeing her so poorly, poor little mite. Try to get some sleep abit of TLC and you'll both feel so much better.

Big hugs to you babes, thinking of you, Sam x

Oh no!!

Poor you and your poor daughter, i don't think it is certain that you will get swine flu. People can get it and not pass it on to others.

Fingers crossed your lil girl will feel better soon and you don't catch it.

I was hoping we were through the worst of swine flu.

Take care

Love

Hi hun,

just visiting from B&T hope you don't mind, just wanted to say it isn't a foregone conclusion that you'll get it my stepson had it a while back and no-one else in the household came down with it. Surprised me to be honest cos they've made it sound like it spreads like wildfire but I know other families where one member has had it and no-one else caught it so don't think it's as bad as they've made it sound. Know how scary it must be for you hun, last thing you need when you're pregnant and horrible watching your little one suffer but hopefully it won't be as bad as you expect, first day or two were the worst for my stepson and he picked up really quickly after that so fingers crossed it'll be the same with your little girl. Big hugs to you both hope she's better really soon.

Love, Clare xxx
