When do you tell people you are pregnant?

Hi ladies

I'm only 4+5 pregnant so I'm not suggesting I tell anyone right now, have no fear! I had a m/c in Feb this year at 5+5 weeks, that was my first pregnancy. So I want to wait until I hit twelve weeks before I tell the majority of family, friends or work but I was talking to my hubby about telling our parents at 8 weeks. What do you think?

I don't want to cause them any emotional harm if we m/c after that point but I also don't want to be pesimistic about it either and trash our experience if it's all going to be alright. I'm really excited and happy we're having a baby and I want to share that with our parents. I'm wondering how long before I show or they notice because I'm not drinking at meals etc. My husband wants to wait until we're twelve weeks incase they can't keep the news to themselves.

What did you guys do and what would you recommend. I know it's a personal decision but I'd be really grateful for any advice.

tc,

Sam

Hiya

i know the feeling after ectopic in 06 i was a bit scared of telling everyone but then again a remember how difficult it was and thought to myself, if it doesnt work again the support off family is something you need, then if all is ok, which i sincerely hope it is, then everyone can get excited with you. having said that, we did only tell parents and bf grandparents at an early stage and because they knew about ectopic thay all knew not to tell the world till we knew all was good.
at about 7 weeks i think it was work started getting round cos we ad 5 weeks scan and saw sack in right place so everyone was more at ease so after 7 weeks scan and saw heartbeat, word was getting round anyway so we just announced it.
its each to there own really and i can understand you being a bit on edge, but me personally likes the fact that family knew incase we needed there support.
good luck
still cant blv youre over here with me, lol

Hi Sam

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Like you I had a miscarriage before this pregnancy so I was unsure when to tell people. In the end we decided to tell those close to us - mum, dad, sisters, as I would have needed their support if I'd miscarried again. (Plus I was fit to burst with the news so couldn't hold it in!!!!)

Then we told friends, colleagues etc at 12 weeks.

Hope this helps and congrats again!!

Hi

I found out very early and spilt the beans, couldn't help it

If you want to share your good news, do so. Don't dwell on what if's. Stay positive and enjoy every second...

Take care!

Hey sam,

Wow, i cant believe you actually found out yourself so early!! I'm such a ditsy bird i didn't even realise until i'd missed two periods and felt sick lol.

I told my best friends at 9 weeks when i found out but I told them the day after so no doubt i would have told them at any stage... I have a big mouth and cant keep secrets!

I think you should tell your parents if you really want too. its hard having no one to be excited with except hubby!! lol

Congratulations

Hi

Having had 2 m/c's and been pg a couple of times since, I felt that what I wanted to do was tell those who I'd like support from if anything bad happened. Parents and a few close friends.
They were all told to keep it quiet for a bit but who knows whether they did or not but I just done what I felt I had to and you will too.

Hi

Congratulations on your pregnancy

I found out at 5 weeks and told my mum and dad about 10 minutes after I got my bfp!!! Whilst at their house, I rang my sister and my brother and dh rang his family!!!! There was no way I could keep it quiet after trying for 2 years!!!

It is totally a personal decision, but if anything was to happen, you would have support from your family.

Hope you have a healthy and happy pregnancy

Thanks for the advice girls

I think I'm going to reach eight weeks and have an early scan, if it looks good I'm going to speak with my hubby about telling our parents only. Everyone else can wait until we hit twelve weeks.

I'm so excited, I hope this baby sticks. Sam x
