Unhelpful health professionals!!!!

Hey ladies and bumps and all new mummies!!!!
Hope all of you are well!!

Just a quick one. I am 17wks tomorrow and just wondered if I should be p'd off that local MWs are unhelpful along with my surgery and local Walk-In centre!!!!
My OH and I have only had sex about 5 times since finding out we are expecting our 2nd!! This is partly coz he feels bit strange bout it while I'mk pregnant and partly coz he is working himself so hard that he is exhusted a lot of the time and just doesnt have the energy too!!

Anyway, over the weekend and this morning we have had sex 2 or 3 times!! When I was pregnant with Ellie I bleed after sex at 18wks but my MW said any bleed should be checked out. Anyway, I have not bleed with this pregnancy after sex until this morning. I rang the local MWs as mine has a day off today and they were very unhelpful and was not very reassuring, that goes for the local walk-in centre too and when I rang my GP surgery they said they cant see me until 27th coz they are so busy. I was told the best thing to do will be to wait until Wednesday when my MW is back at the surgery and get an appointment for then to get her to check for the heartbeat!!!!

So not only have I had a great weekend that has now ended, my OH is back at work and working 4 hours away so wont be back until tomorrow night, I have bleed and no-one wants to help me out!!!! And my next scan is not until 2nd Nov!!!!

If I could afford to go buy myself a Doppler now then I would and I dont even know anyone with one!!!!!

Thanks for listen ladies

Thank you

Thanks to everyone who replied - you helped me through the night I have to say!!!

Well the bleed stopped but throughout the day when I went to the loo and I wiped there was a pink tinged discharge and it was still there this morning.

Anyway, I rang to see if I could see my MW tomorrow at the surgery but thet said she was booked up but to call the triage this morning and I could talk to a doctor and they would see where to go from there. So this morning I got up (feeling like poo - I'm getting a cold!!!) and rang the doc who said he completely understands my need to hear the heartbeat but they do not have Dopplers at the surgery unless the MW is in, but what he would do is slot me a 5 min gap with MW tomorrow PM just to hear the heartbeat!!!! YAY!!! He said if she moans about seeing me when she is busy (which she wont she is so lovely) then to send her to his room to shout at him!!!! lol!!!

So although I dont want to wait to hear the heartbeat at least it is less than 24hrs away now!!! Will let you know how it goes!!

Hey hun

The health professionals are pants aren't they.

If you have had a bleed and it didn't last long then i really wouldn't worry to much, although easier said than done and i worry at everything to be honest.

If the surgery weren't too concerned then i would take that as a good sign and it shows that they don't think its a problem.

Some dopplers are just over £20 which isn't too bad, or you could hire on which is about £10 a month, i know i wouldn't be without mine.

Take Care

Hi

hello i was just thinking if u cant afford a doppler could u afford a cheap private scan at a clinc they can then tell u if ur ok im ssure u will be tho so try not to worry but hospitals and gps are not so helpfull i found that out once my self but try get private scan to put ur mind a rest maybe a friend or family member could lend u some money look up clincs in ur area
hope u got things sorted xx

Aw hun

They are being rubbish!, they should never be too busy to leave you that long when understandbly you are worried, I would ring your surgery again and demand an appointment, or I know its annoying going to hospital and all but if you ring the early pregnancy or ante-natal unit at your hospital they will probably ask you to go in as they are not allowed to ignore ANY bleeding, I know at my hospital it is the EPA untill 18 weeks, might be different in your area.

I honestly think that your bubs is fine as it is very common to bleed after sex when pregnant, I havent experienced it myself but I do know alot of women who have and it has all been good.

Dont stress, I know its hard. Let us know how you get on.

Hugs,
Hannah and 38+2 bumpxx
