Labour

Hey everyone... just a quickie.. as I get close to labour im starting to panic now, some of you have probably read my older posts and no that i suffer with mild emetophobia which is a fear of being sick, I have escaped this all the way through my pregnancy (how lucky) But im now just worried about the birth... the actual labour part isnt worrying me, as its all worth it, but the sickness part does during it, Iv heard different stories good and bad!! Im even thinking about not having any pain relief as the morphine makes you sick and so does the gas an air!!!! Im trying to avoid everything that would make me sick!!! I no its strange but It frightens me for some strange reason..

has any body got any positive stories for me?????

thanks guys...

hi suzanne

well i had terrible sickness untill week 21 of my pregnancy but felt no sickness at all during labour and i had pethadine and gas and air, i just remeber feeling very thirsty due to the gas and air and sleepy coz of the pethadine.
i know the pain relief has different effects on everyone but i get travel sickness easily but had nothing during labour so you might be lucky and have the same.
not much help i know but a few other girls that i have met since having her were the same and not sicky during labour.
only 5 weeks into my second pregnancy now and no sickness yet but last time it started at 6.5 - 7 weeks but i'm hoping for no sickness this time.
anyway fingers crossed for you hun i'm sure you'll cope with whatever labour throws at you!!
sorry for babbling on a bit but just trying to help! lol!

Hey hun

I have the same phobia as you hun. Even the thought of being sick makes me cry.

With my son I just felt queasy during labour but I didn't have time for any pain relief. With my daughter I had dia-morphine and gas n air and I threw up once but tbh I was still a little high off the drugs and had just given birth to even care. I'm terrified of being sick too lol.

Good luck hun

No sick

Hiya, when I was carrying my son, I werent sick at all and when it came to labour, I wasnt sick then either. I did have gas and air but I didnt have too much as by the time I got to hospital I was 7cm dilated. Gas and air is like, a drunk feeling. You know when you are really drunk and you bang your head and cant feel it...thats what gas and air is like! haha, best way I could explain it.

I havent known anyone to be sick during labour and alot of my friends and families have children.

Hope this is some positivity for you.

You will be fine. Labour and giving birth really isnt that bad
