Just saw midwife

Hey ladies and bumps

Just saw my midwife and everything is fine, although baby is still breech so she has mentioned if within the next 5 wks baby does not turn i will have a ecv which i wasnt really wanting as ive heard its really painful and sucess rates arent that great, personally id rather have a c-section and get things done with then shoving baby around.
So im slightly worried about that, bp was abit low but nothing she was really worried about, guess its better then it being too high!
Cant believe i only have about 8wks left , hoping it might be abit earlier then that, my anxieties werent helped with her telling me just to go into labour rhinking of it as the worst pain ive felt in my life i mean sure i know that but i didnt need her telling me that!
Also because of my servere fears of birth i was hoping for a csection but mw has told me that its not going to happen as they dont do "social" csections anymore, its only if baby is in danger or me , or if baby is still breecg.

Really dont know how im going to be able to do labour, i just seriously dont know.

hey

Hi... I cant believe your midwife said " just go into labour thinking of it as the worst pain u have ever felt" I mean obviously she knows of your anxieties!!! I swear some of them need to be trained again!!!!!! listen your really not alone, I am scared too I think alot of first time moms are!!!

I hope baby turns for you because I wouldnt like having the ecv myself!!!! but alot can happen in 5 weeks so fingers crossed for you!!!

your due same time as me so we can be scared about the birth together lol

Hey

hiya,

only thing i can really add is have you tried putting some frozen peas at the top of your bump and a hot water bottle at the bottom, it can encourage the baby to go head down.

Also you could try getting a torch and shining it on the bottom of your bump or play music at the bottom.

and some people say getting on all fours and shaking your booty can do the trick lol

Goood luck xxxx

Hey hun

I had an ECV at 40 weeks, thats the first time they realised my baby was breech!!! Im sorry to say it is the worst pain I have ever frlt in my life!! I got to the point where I was sobbing and I had to ask them to stop. I wish I had just been booked in for a C/S in the first place. I also had a lot of complications with my which I think were due to them trying to turn him so late on. I frimly believe my C/S would have been straight forward otherwise.
My son was bum in pelvis with his legs out straight to the side, there was no chance of me having a Vaginal breech birth!!

Im sorry, if this isnt what you want to hear but I wish someone had told me what to expect before my ECV, I wouldnt have had it!!

On the up side, apart from the initial discomfort of a C/S, I was up and about doing most things after the first week, all be it a bit slower. xx

I hope you get on ok, and bubs turns in the meantime xx

Hi adele

Still remember before you gave birth now your lil man seems so big!! How handsome is he!!

No its ok about the ecv, ive heard alot that its painful so to me id rather just have a csection booked in 5 weeks time if bubs is still breech. But my mw is insisting on trying ecv but trust me i will deff make it known if its hurting me too much, im deff not wanting to put me or bubs through that at all!

Thanks again and here is to hoping that either bubs changes or ecv isnt possible and they book csection and thats that!!

Breech

Hi

My baby is breech and I had the ecv a week ago.It is uncomfortable and unfortunately it didn't work for me but I would rather have given that a try than have a c/s any day.

Although c/s are routine they are still major operations and the recovery time is longer than a normal delivery. I am still attempting to turn baby using natural methods as well as moxibustion and acupuncture.

Labour is painful but I have felt worse pain! And honestly once the baby is here you will forget everything.

Good Luck!

Thank you

Thank you for replying. Have they booked you for a csection? did they do it as soon as ecv was unsucessful? Also if you dont mind me asking how was your baby positioned before the ecv? Mine is breech , head up , bum down and back to back so wrong in every sense lol

Good luck with the remainder of your pregnancy!

Hi

I am still waiting to hear of a date for the c/s. I had to go back into the hospital last Friday as they had lost the mrsa swabs that they had taken after the ecv....typical! They take 5 days to culture so I am not holding my breath that we will get a date this week.

My baby is frank or extended breech. Head under my ribs, back down the right side and legs extended up in fromt of baby...it looks very funny on the scan. I have to say though that my bump has changed shape since I have been having the acupuncture so I am hoping that I might be able to avoid the c/s.

The consultant who does your ecv will check baby first and will say whether it is worthwhile trying to turn the baby and they won't try more than 3 times. My consultant told me that if he felt it wasn't worthwhile after the first time that he wouldn't try again. He attempted three times and then left it.
