Hi ladies

I hope one of you will be able to help!!

I've been getting these horrible shooting pains down below since Saturday. They aren't all the time - Saturday I just got it once, Sunday a couple of times and yesterday maybe 4 or 5 times.

It's a really sharp pain, underneath my bump but above my lady bits. It makes me double over and it really takes my breath away. I thought maybe it was just ligaments stretching but thought that would be more achey than this shooting pain.

Any ideas? I'm seeing the midwife tomorrow for a normal check up so will mention it to her then, but I'm not sure if I should be worried or not!!

Thanks girlies

Love Sophie 32 + 2 xxxxxx

Opps

opps i meant i wouldnt worry in my last post not worry!

i have that pain alot when walking its almost like a stabbing pain down below, but my baby isnt engaged at all.

and just to help ease your mind my friend was 4/5 at just over 32 weeks she had to be induced after she went 2 weeks overdue lol! the baby may even free itself, so it doesnt automatically mean you will have a premature baby.

did you see your midwife? has your baby engaged at all?

nic, 35 week bump

Hiya

Yes, I saw midwife today and she said baby is very low (head down hurrah!) but she didn't say it was engaged, I asked about the pain and she said it was just the baby's head pushing down and is nothing to worry about unless it starts happening all the time.

I'm so happy baby is in the right position - it was transverse last time and breech the time before that, so I hope it stays head down now!!

Thanks for your reassurance girls,

hi, i had this when expecting maisie and it started about the same time as you, and sounds exactly how you describe, sometimes like a very strong kind of pins n needles feeling or like a painfull static shock feeling? and always when i was stood up or walking.
think it was to do with the head engaging as i was 3/5 engaged at my 32 week midwife appointment.
is it sometimes sort of right at the top of your thighs too, on the inside? i had this and the midwife said its engaging and moving down and just when the baby moves about as it goes lower.

Thanks for the replies ladies.

Sez23 - that's exactly what it feels like, nice to know I'm not the only one!!
Was Maisie born early? I am worrying now that baby being engaged early would mean a premature birth?! (I worry too much!)

I'm seeing the midwife today so hopefully she'll be able to let me know.

Hey

hiya,

could be the head engaging but its more then likely just the babies head hiting agaisnt your pelvis.

i would worry just speak to your midwife about it.

Good luck

Hi spohie!

Hi Sophie,

Maybe it's the stage we are at, i was awake last night with really sharp, bad pains in that area and in my back too, they where really strong and i was getting quite worried about them. I wrapped up really warm and it took them away. Today i have a stitch like pain on and off but nothing major...

Let me know how you get on!!

Hi ladies, thanks for replying!

A couple of people have said that it sounds like bubs head is engaging - causing me the shooting pains. Surely it's too early???

Baby has definitely changed position over the past week - it was side to side and now it's much lower.

Hope you're both okay and doing well,

i had that when i was pregnant with my daughter , i think its were the baby moving to get ready for birth hot watrer bottle helped relive sme of the pain..
