Needing advice please ladies....

Hope all those bumps are happy in there!

I wondered if anyone might be able to help with this situation.

My lovely Man is a smoker, and a heavy one at that, id say 20-30 a day.
Despite being an asthmatic I never really had a problem with this untill I became pregnant. I worry because I have asked him to smoke outside which he did for a while but now he has reverted back to smoking in the house. I hate it but everytime I mention it he gets really defensive and tries to change the subject and I end up feeling like a right old nag, and we get into an argument.

I hate talking about him like this because he really is fantastic in every other way. I am going to give birth soon and move back to our house(I am staying with my parents at the mo) How can I make him see that it is so important for him to give up??

Hi gorgeous mum to be!

I don't really know how you could handle this one.... Just put your foot down and tell him you won't have baby breathing in all that smoke!! I have the same trouble, it , i mean he, was smoking outside but since it's gotten colder he had edged back into the kitchen, i will kick him back out in a few weeks before baby comes!

Good luck and good luck with baby.......nearly here!!!

He'll come around...

Hey Hannah

My OH was always a smoker and although I dont smoke I never had a problem with it and he smoked indoors. When we started to try for our daughter he said he would cut down but not stop which was great and then I just asked him if he would smoke outside when Iwas pregnant and when she was born. He was a bit grumpy about it at 1st but I just said to him that it is his choice to smoke and I wont ever make him stop but just because he chooses to smoke doesnt mean our baby should have to inhale his fumes while in my belly nor when born. He went uiet for a few days and eventually he started to smoke outside. He hates it when its cold and wet but he sees my point and now he only smokes about 4 in the evenings after work coz he cannot be bothered to go outside. Maybe you could just suggest he smoke outside for the same reason I gave my OH and see how he is or if it helps maybe suggest just the kitchen by a open door or window. Once he realises you are not nagging coz he smokes but for the khealth of his daughter he should understand. My OH never spoke about it he just eventually done it after we spoke, no more was said. He sometimes says can I have it indoors and I just say not really what about Ellie and off he goes to the garden.

Snap!!

well i was a smoker but gave up when i found out i was pregannt but my partner is a much heavier smoker than i ever was anyway but he is so good to me and is trying to be so understandng with the pregnancy (our first) but he went through a stage of smoking outside but it has worn off and like you OH he gets very defensive when i bring it up saying 1 it is very hard as iam a ex smoker 2 it is not good for me or the baby to be around his smoke.
i would say he smokes around 20 - 30 a day as well!!
i dont know if i need to put my foot down or approach it softly softly!!! but i do get annoyd as i ahve given up for the babies sake so he could at least go outside!!
i really dont want smoking in the house when the baby arrives.

i am not much help to be honest!!!!! im sorry but lets hope someone can help us????

Hey

i was a smoker and u really dont notice the smell of the fags and it in your hair n clothes till u stop i found out pregnant and stop straight away i think u should say u dont want it near the baby even if he smokes outside its still on his hands n clothes get him some nicotine gum n stuff u have to firm with him and if he does smoke around the baby she /he will get bad chests and colds plus if u can do it so can he xxx

Thanks girls!

Think I am going to have another little chat with him and try to remain as calm as possible, hoping that when he sees bubs it will make him want to cut down or even better give up!

Wish me luck!

Love Hannah 40 weeks tommorow!!! ( Ive been waiting a loooong time to write that!!)xx
