hi everyone!
i'm 40 weeks today still no baby!!! i'm having lots of braxtons contractions and had a bit of a show on sunday, but still nothing is happening. really depressed about it now, just called the hospital to find out about being induced, unbelievable, they told me at 41 weeks they do a sweep membranes, then u wait 10 days from that date to make an appointement to be induced!!!! that means worst case scenario u have the baby 1 month later!!! so has anyone gone through that nightmare, have u got any tips to go into labour.
i am drinking raspberry tea leaf since yesterday, hoping it might help!!! by the way, charlotte how are u feeling , is the baby born yet?

Im 41 weeks and 3 days today, my tummy can no longer stretch anymore.Im finding it difficult to walk, sit and sleep. I haven't slept properly in 4 weeks.
My baby is in no hurry to come out, but I'm worried about its well being.

I had a membrane sweep at 40 + 4 days, but to no avail. Im going back to hospital this Friday to arrange a date for a C-Section.I hope I do end u having a section as the baby seems huge, I doubt whether I'll be able to deliver naturally.

Its the worst waiting game Ive ever played, my 2 year old has also decided to start his terrible two tantrums so you can imagine.

Ive tried Rasberry Tea, 2 cups a day for 4 days. Pineapple, Sex, walking on a kerb with one leg on road, squats, hot curry and praying. But I believe in fate, the baby will come when its supposed to come. If its destined to arrive in 4 days buy natural means it will.
Just try to put your mind elsewhere and let baby take 2 weeks longer if it wants. However, do not let your hospital take longer than 2 weeks, demand a C section at 42 weeks if you do not go into natural labour.

GOOD LUCK

I had her come round last wednesday and tell me that she couldnt reach my cervix but its soft and short, so it should be soon, its now sunday and still no baby! she is comin round next wednesday to do another sweep but have a feeling its not worth having done.
She has booked me in for induction next saturday too sooo im lookin forward to that date I JUST WANT MY BODY BACK!!
I was due on the 18th of feb its now the 24th and wont be induced till the 1st march.

With my daughter i was overdue, fed up and irritable. I saw my due date come and go got the date to go into hospital only for them to give me another date 10 days later. I was due on the 8th March. The hospital said they would bring me in the 20th march to be induced. OH MY GOD, i thought another 12 days of waiting thinking every twinge was it. I took loads of hot baths, curries and clarice sage oil in my bath. My waters broke at 1am on the 19th March and my beautiful baby girl was born on the 20th. I still had to wait those extra days but atleast i wasn't induced. It might still happen to you! good luck!

Hi
I'm currently sitting at 40 weeks too. This is my 5th pregnancy. I have had an experience simular to the one your talking about. I was left to go 3 weeks over due with my third child and then they decided to induce me. As for any tips about going into labour... well this is my 5th pregnancy and i have been over due with everyone of them. I have tried many different labour myths, and thats just how i see them as, myths. None of them worked for me...but then again.. who an i to say that they dont work at all.

goodluck

Hiya, i completely understand how your feeling, im 2 days over due... im having a membrane sweep on friday. all my midwife said was 'drink the rasberry leaf tea' 'walk loads,' 'eat fresh pineapple' and the best one of all- 'have lots of sex' (the stuff in the guys cum makes your cervix soften and allows your plug to go and then your cervix opens and contractions start)hope some of these ideas help you.
just to let you know... its 5 days over your due date, then they can do a sweep, and 2 weeks after your due date is when they can induce you. dont let them make you wait longer than you have to, i found the information out and i talked to my midwife bout it and now shes going by what i say too.
good luck.

"Overdue and feeling blue!"
Posted by ajbeechok 24 October  at  23:24

Hello!

Today is my due date, and this is my second child. I'm hardly dialated, and am not having contractions. I was 41 1/2 weeks and induced for 3 days with my first-it was a miserable experience! I feel as though history is about to repeat itself, sadly. My midwife says they will induce me in one week from today, but I just want a natural birth-being induced with pitocin is extremely unpleasent because it sends you into hard labor and only gets worse until delivery. I have tried metemucil, bumpy car ride, belly dancing, nipple stimulation, walking, pineapple, and various other things-bottom line is baby won't come until he's ready. There's nothing to do but wait, after all this time, a week or two really isn't much longer. I definately can relate to the frustration though. Wish me luck, as I wish luck to all who have the same problem.

Hi there, I'm 36 weeks pregnant and i totally understand. This is my second child so i dont get much of a chance to rest. If its your first take every advantage of relaxing because when baby decides to arrive you wont get much time to do relaxing. I'm sure you will go before your induction date. I was 10 days late with my first and i went the night before my induction date. If you want to rush things along, i know you probarly can't be botherd right now but sex does work. Its something to do with the seamen. Give it a try, you might even enjoy it!

Hi, I know exactly how you feel. My due date was yesterday, coincidently with the life birth programme... I felt so strange watching all those lovely babies being born and hoping that at any minute that my waters would break. But no they didn't! I've had lots of braxton hicks but no show or anything else! I've been taking raspberry leaf for the past 3 weeks but alas it hasn't helped. Good luck with your tea, how's it taste! Any way good luck and I hope your baby comes soon.

Lots of lovely thoughts

i went into prem labour at 32+5 weeks and had every thing stopped by the hospital but was told not to go back to work as i would be lucky to make 37 weeks.
I have now been on mat leave for 7 weeks and am very bored as i have reached 40+1 weeks i was due yesterday and my midwife done my membrane sweep at home she also booked me for a consultant appt on tuesday with the possibility of being induced on thursday therefore 1 week over due.
the whole 7 weeks i have been off i have been in and out of hospital as my contractions keep starting and stopping so you can understand my frustration.
this is my second child and my first pregnancy was fantastic went into labour i day late had him 36 hours later with no drugs weighing 8lb 15oz just shows you that every pregnancy is very different i am really hoping i start soon as not keen on being induced.
if i was you i would push for that membrane sweep sooner.

"Membrane sweep"
Posted by jem072 2 October  at  21:23

Hi all again,
Sorry changed my username slightly. Went for my membrane sweep today at the birth centre but unfortunately it couldn't be performed by the midwife as the neck of womb wasn't forward enough for the midwife to reach. She also explained the baby was lying in the back to back position (which he has been for a few weeks now and can be agonising at times as I feel lots of pressure on the bottom of my back)and that it was common for the womb to take longer coming forward apparently when babies lie in this position.
It was quite uncomfortable but bearable.
Got to go back weds now for a 2nd membrane sweep attempt. So fingers crossed again. If unsuccessful I can either wait 10 days after my due date or up to a maximum of 14 days to be induced but will have to go to the main hospital for this. They didnt give me the option of not being induced. Can I not be induced?
Regards jem
"Did it hurt"
Posted by kmaxwell 13 July  at  00:25

Tomorrow is my due date and I don't ever feel like I am going to go into labor. When I went to the doctor three weeks ago I had dilated 2cm and I was thinking yes labor is near. But I went back last week and the doctor couldn't tell if I had dilated anymore. So I have an appointment for the 16th of July and God knows I don't want to be pregnant for another week. Bottom line my question is does the membrane sweep hurt??? I may end up getting that on Monday since I am going to be overdue. I know the doctor said she wants to check the fluid next week. I know this is done through an ultrasound. The funny think to is that I am having all the signs of labor. Mucus plug has been coming out, braxton hicks are become regular and stronger, and the baby has turned. Please let me know if the membrane sweep hurts.

Thanks, Kendra

Hi all

Im 40 weeks and 3 days today, and very uncomfortable. I have been having some braxton hicks contractions and feeling lots of pressure in my pelvic region,I have been on raspberry leaf for just over a month now, have eaten pineapple, gone over bumps in the car, and tried abit of the other but still no signs.Think hes just too comfy in here! Went to the birth centre where I am having a water birth on monday and they offered me a membrane sweep for today so I accepted. Bit nervous because this is my 1st child and I dont know what to expect. But guess I'll know what it feels like in a couple of hours. So fingers crossed this sweep will trigger something off today or tomorrow.
Will post you with some more news to tell you if this sweep works.

Hi nat!

last week at my yoga lesson a girl with her 3 weeks old baby and she had to be induced. Apparently she she was happy to wait more ( she was 40wks+3/4 days) but they told her that if in 2 more days nothing was happening they will have to induce her for her safety and baby's one.
They used the gel and that was fine! She said it was long ( she stayed all day/night at hospital)and she had to walk all the time to make sure the baby's head was engaged.
She also tried tea, curry, sex! but nothing helped her!!!!

Try to contact your midwife and put pressure on them because at the end of the day it is your labour!! and your baby!

Good luck!
I hope you are not going to have the time to read this email!!!
