"Pregnancy after a miscarriage (should we wait?)"
Posted by sarahp82 30 May  at  17:15

I need a bit of advice or past experiences of trying again after a miscarriage. I had a d&c 3 weeks ago following a missed miscarriage (9 weeks)and have been told different opinions about when to try again. We feel we need to try again now but should we wait for my 1st period? My periods are very irregular from coming off the pill earlier this year and we don't feel we want to wait for this. We want to do what is best and give ourselves every opportunity to have a healthy pregnancy this time. Has anybody any advice on this? Have you had a healthy pregnancy without waiting? Did it take you long to concieve again? Please help because dont no what to do for the best.

"Just one period"

I got pregnant Janurary 14th. I had a d&c in March 15th. (the embryo was 6 weeks old) I had my period in April 16th. I ovulated in May 4th, and since then, I'm pregnant.
I use ovulation tests and have sex when the test is almost positive, when it's positive, and 3 days after it's positive.

I know how you are feeling - i had a miscarraige at 9 weeks last May. Both myself and my partner half felt that we wanted to try again straight away and half wanted to wait. The advice that i got was that you need to give your body adequate time to recover to ensure a healthy pregnancy next time. The body's sign that its getting back to normal is when you start your next period, so i wouldn't suggest trying until then. Me and my partner started actively trying again about 3 or 4 months ago and i just found out yesterday that i'm 4 weeks pregnant. Just be patient and it will happen!

i had the same thing happen to me last november, i went to the doctor to ask him when it would be safe to try, he said wait while you've had one normal period and then it should be safe. we started trying again in january and i'm now 14 weeks everything seems to be going well. the midwives at the hospital all had different advice which was a bit confusing but the doc just said if you feel emotionally ready then theres no reason to leave it long, everybody is different though so its really just down to how you feel, good luck i hope everything works out xxx

Last november i had a misscarrage and was told to wait till my next normal period. My husband and i started trying after my first period and now i am nearly 11 weeks pregnant.Im scared but optomistic. But really the only people that can make the decision of when to try again is you and your partner.I wish you lots of luckxx
