"Anyone live in portsmouth and not yet spoke to a midwife?"

Hi

I'm 11 weeks pregnant and live in Portsmouth. I have not yet been contacted by a midwife to discuss my pregnancy? Alot of people i've spoken to say that i should have heard by now. I contacted my doctors to ask if this was normal and they said that the midwife will contact me at approx 16 weeks? Has anyone else heard of this? I thought i should have a scan by then?

Any help would be appreciated as i'm so confused.

Thanks
Gemma

Where have you decided to have baby!. St Richards in Chichester is great, better than ST Mary's. You need to see the midwife before 16 weeks normally about 13 weeks i believe when I had my first to arrange scans with you. There is not alot they can do until you are a little bit further on.

Hi Kerry,

Thanks for your reply. We have chosen St Marys as it is litterally at the bottom of my road so for convenience really. I saw the midwife yesterday which was great. We were also lucky to be able to hear the baby's heartbeat which she said was really strong for 13 weeks. It was quite an emotional experience! Do you live locally?

Hello Gemma!!! I am in the exact same boat as you!
I am 11 weeks on Monday (11th June) and my doc has told me I should hear from a midwife in the next few weeks to sort out my first scan... 16 weeks is WAY too long to wait I think!! THAT makes me panic slightly as I've been getting strange pains and aches... This is my first baby.. yours too?
I hope to find out on Monday, my next docs appointment, what I'm entitled to. I'll let you know asap.
Good luck, Tamsin.

Hiya! AT least one of us have heard from a midwife! Now I want MY turn! LOL!! )
I live right next to the Guildhall, big block of flats across from Route66, Where you at?
My sis-in-law who has had 3 babies (one a week before I found out I was having a one!) and she told me I should call the doc and find out why I have not heard... so annoying!
Do tell me how it goes with the midwife, always nice to get another point of view!
Why not email me? I am rarely on here, I get confused at how to move around this site! )

Hope to chat soon! I shall wait to hear from you! Good luck!!!
