| Thread started by: | "Passed the 12 week mark but still worried!" Posted by intimates 4 June at 15:11
Hi there, i am just abit worried really, i am now 13 weeks pregnant so i am really passed the danger zone. But i am still worried because well ever since i have been pregnant i have had on and off period like pains, i did have an early scan at 7 weeks and everything was fine, so i thought the pain might be my uterus stretching and growing. I was just wondering really i no i am passed the danger mark but would i know if there was something wrong? I havnt had any bleeding at all. I just worry all the time that something is wrong, maybe its because its my first baby, but i have this big fear that when i go for my scan on the 19th June they are going to say there is something wrong, does anyone else feel like this at all?
Love Sarah

I also worry myself silly when I get stomach cramps (I'm 10 weeks) but I think I'm beginning to learn now that most of the time it's due to either my uterus stretching, or even more likely down to trapped wind and constipation. I know from past experience that trapped wind can feel very much like period pain - there have been times when I've been almost certain I've come on, only to find out I haven't. I think pregnancy generally plays havoc with your digestive system (not to mention everything else) so it's only natural to feel all sorts of aches and twinges. I read some advice that said unless the pain is worse than your usual period type pain (and at 13 weeks I would make a guess that if something was wrong it would probably be very painful) then there's no need to worry.

i`m 12 weeks with my first on wednesday but had a huge scare last week, first I lost all my symptoms then I woke up with pains. I went to the doctor that day and he rushed me to a scan. seeing the babies heart beating strong was the biggest relief I could`ve asked for.. I still worry every day and check for spotting at every toilet break but I just feel so much better having seen it all for myself, you`ll probably get that to when you see this scan because its further on than your last. we will always worry coz now we`re mums to be and thats what we`re supposed to do!!! for the next 25 years!!! good luck and please remember we shouldn`t worry about things we can`t control what will be will be xxx

Dear Sarah,
I had really bad period type pains quite abit in the first trimester.
I was also constantly being sick, but now I am 25 weeks things have calmed down, although I do get the odd day where I have stomache pains.
Its really normal especailly in the first pregnancy to get this, your body is doing alot of adjusting and your hormones are effecting you too in many ways.
If you are concerned do ask a doctor or a midwife and they should put your mind at rest.
You'll be OK, best of luck, Natalie x

Hi Sarah,
Like Natalie said above it's probably just your body doing all of it's preparing, your uterus stretching etc.
Some days i feel like im going to come on as i get period type aches and pains and im 26 weeks now. It's natural to worry & if you're anything like me you'll be checking the toilet tissue each time you wipe aswell....as i still do!
Im sure you have nothing to worry about & all will be fine.
Let us know how your scan goes x
