4 - 5 weeks pregnant

Hi there, ive just found out im expecting my first baby on 10th feb and couldnt be happier. Just been to the doctors and they were almost dissmissive saying that its really early days and a lot can go worng. They said i should do another test (ive had 5 positive ones over 3 different brands) and go back in two weeks, However i have got a midwife pack and already booked in for the talk about the downsindrome scan and the scan will be booked in on that date ill be 7 weeks then.

Just wanted to know if other doctors were nicer than mine was as im really worried ill miscarry now. Im 25 good health etc. Does anyone know what the chances are?

Sorry to go on for ages

Don't let them get you down. xx

doctors and midwives can not be the most pleasant and helpfull of people at times. The days of having a bedside manner seem to have gone. It seemes to be pot luck and depends on their mood so don't let them get you down.
I'm now pregnant with my second child and remeber feelin like you with my first as I thought that they would've got more involved with the pregnancy. The good thing is that the less time they want to spend with you the healthier they think you and your baby are

Congratulations.

4-5 weeks pregnant

Hi
I've just come back from the hospital i'm 4 - 5 weeks pregnant and this is my 4th pregnancy as i've miscarried 3!! My doctor was worse than yours as he asked me yesterday what did he want me to do about it - and i asked him would he please do a pregnancy test as i thought i was as i'd had a negative and positive result. In the end he did it just to shut me up - but i came home rang the hospital and they were fantastic i went to see them this morning and feel on top of the world right now.
If i were you Louise just to ease your feelings i'd ring your nearest maternity ward and just ask there advice, however you have everything in your advantage your young and healthy so you (fingers & toes crossed) shouldn't have any problems.

Good luck with your pregnancy

Aine xxxx

Congratulations!

Hello Louise,

Congrats on your Pregnancy, you are due one day before me! I went to see the Dr's a couple of weeks back and she just said congratulations and that I had made her day (had 2 mc's recently) so she was really nice. Seeing her again on Friday to book in an early scan to check all is okay.

Will be 7 weeks tomorrow and some days feel like poo but other days I feel fine....

Woke up this morning in a panic though - has anyone else had this??

Hi!

hi there! Congratulations! I'm due feb 9th, my doctor was the okay about it but the midwife was a bit like your doctor was.. saying that just take it as it comes because alot can go wrong... whihc obviously is not what we want to hear right now even thou we know its true!

Dont let the doctors worry you, its just like a conveyor belt to them, they get so many people going in and out all the time.

Hope your feeling well! xxxx

Hi me too

I'm 32 and just found out am pregnant, first time ever. So I'm 4wks and 6 days I think.
i live in France you go straight to a gynaecologist, not the GP. But the secretary made me my first appointment for 4th August!! Said I don't need to see anyone before that! So I'm on my own til then, just onna read lots and lots of info and rest lots.
Am also worried about m/c...... know they are quite common and just can't imagine how upsettingtraumatic and disappointing they are after the excitement of getting pregnant. Ah well fingers crossed for us all...

Good luck everyone Lea xx

'5 weeks pregnant'

Hi,

I too have found out that i am pregnant. I am 38 and this will be our first child. We have been trying for 8 years. We had 2 failed attempts of IVF last year and had given up hope. We cant believe it. My Dr said to me it is early days yet and not too build your hopes up. I suppose they are being realistic but never the less we are excited. I have my 10 week scan on the 16th July where they will discuss Downs tests etc. We are so elated that we have got a step further and without medical intervention.

Nasty doctors

Don't worry my dr wasn't very helpful either, I just said to her 'i just found out i'm prenant so I came to tell you' and she said 'so what are you going to do?' I didn't know what she meant for the minute so after an arkward pause i said 'i am going to have the baby'. she seemed very doubtful of me and said I had to provide a urine sample and that would confirm either way and if I was she would prescribe me some folic acid. I am prenant and went to see my midwife for the first visit today and she was lovely. She was all positive and made me feel much better so son't worry!

Hi louise

First congratulations!
And don't worry too much. When I found out I was pregnant ( begining of May, baby due 13th January), i went to see my GP ASAp, i was then just 4 to 5 weeks pregnant and she had the same attitude. She Insisted very much on the fact that it was early days and going so far as to give me statistics about how many women miscarried in the first three months! I was a bit shocked, but she also congratulated me and then I thought about her attitude again and decided that maybe it was better this way because at least she made me aware of the risks(which are real). What I mean is your GP is not your best friend or your mother, who will be over the moon for you and who will share your joy, your GP is here to tel you the truth, even if it's harsh to hear.
I am now nearly 11 weeks pregnant and very well. I'm looking forward to the end of next week to be able to tell my relatives and my friends (we haven't told anyone yet, and I just can't wait now!)
Don't worry too much, enjoy your pregnancy and look after yourself.

36 years old,6 weeks preggers, due in feb also.

I only took one test also, my doctor said that was all that was needed and was very congratulatory. Then he proceeded to refer me to the wrong hospital! So they've now sent an urgent letter to the hospital of my choice so i'm really hoping my scan isn't delayed. Bit confused about this scan business, I thought you only had 2 during your pregnancy, but my first one is to be at Kings College and then my others at my local hospital, don't really understand it? By the way, am finally coming to terms with it, even went baby window shopping with my partner at the weekend. Still seems strange and surreal though !

5-6 weeks pregnant

Hello! Yesterday I found out I am expecting my first baby, my due date is 14th February (according to this site). I've only done one test and I've got an appointment at the doctors tomorrow and am now a bit wary about what they will say. I'm 30 and have a very stressfull job which won't help.

It all seems a bit surreal though I am really excited - I hope the doctor doesn't dampen my mood.

Ditto

We have been trying for a baby for 4 years, using ovulation tests and all that, which turned out to be useless. We found out at 2 weeks that we were expecting our first baby and I went to the doctors who were quite dismissive too and didn't do a pregnancy test( I had already done 3, all of which were positive),just saying that I would hear from midwife with appointment date. I have my first midwife appointment on Friday and am really worried that she is going to tell me that I'm not actually pregnant!!

7 weeks pregnant (ish)

Hi well my doc congratulated me but the only thing he really said was he would do a midwife refferal and she would be in touch this was about two weeks ago so i have to wait a bit longer i thinks, i thought he would do a pregnancy test or something but he said as i had done three that was quite enough and the chop ones are just as effective as any test he could do.

Waiting really sucks especially as my periods were kind of funky so i have no idea exactly how far gone i am, so the elusive 12 week mark feels like a real hurdle at the moment and i am trying to refrain from being a paranoid wreck.

Hello i am new by the week

"4-5 weeks pregnant"

Hi Louise

I found out i was pregnant on Friday last week and i have just been to my doctor - He has given my due date as the 7th Feb,
It doesnt seen real - ive had two pregnancy tests both positive and ive just bought another one to double double check!! Crazy i know!!
My doctors were nice and gave me the information pack and told me that a midwife will be in touch. This is my first child and i suppose i will be classed as a young mum (im 23).
The pregnancy was unplanned and was a shock but now i love the idea - i have really supportive parents!!!
Im now worried about miscarriage as i really really want this baby now!
Hope everything goes well for you!! Michelle

Me too!

I'm due 11th Feb with my second (I'm 27). I think some doctors tend to dismiss pregnancy as a midwife thing, but it really depends on whether you get lucky with yours. I personally take the attitude that everything is fine unless something goes wrong as I don't like to feel stressed. It's normal not to have any appointments before your booking in, usually at around 10 weeks, so you're actually doing well to get an appointment at 7. Congrats, hope it all goes swimmingly!

Snap!

Hi
My due date is the same as yours, surprised at your doctors did they at least congratulate you? Try not to worry it just they like you to be aware of possible risks, I guess they wouldn't be doing their job f they didn't. I have two boys already so I guess they just assumed I would be fine... As for your chances, just try and relax stressing out is the worst thing you could do... I personally know a lot of people with kids and no miscarriages maybe talk to your family they could reasure you
Nice to know someone on the exact path as me!
Best wishes to you
cheryl

Me too!

Hi just got my due date 13th Feb! HE HE! I have a 5 yr old daughter and have never had any miscarriages. All people are different though. I have had some pains this time and concinved myself it was an ectopic pregnancy but my Dr said it can just be ligaments movng around, and not to worry unless it carried on (which is hasn't. I think just to look after yourself, eat healthily, get plenty of rest. Your body will do the rest!
Take care
