5 weeks

i am 19 and have just found out i was pregnant. i had a miscarrige last year and although i am only young me and my boyfriend are over the moon. we have both wanted this for such a long time. i also went to my doctors today and i got the "cold shoulder treatment" as he didnt really say much and just gave me a number to ring for the midwife. not a nice really but i remember speaking to the midwife last year and she was lovely. im really anxious about having another miscarrige but i know as long as i keep stress free and eat well fingers crossed things should be ok!
Good luck everyone and keep in touch with how things are going!

Worry

Hi Louise,

I found out I was pregnant really early too and went to the doctors at 4 weeks. He was really dismissive and just gave me a midwife pack. My midwife came to see me at home for my booking in appointment at 9 weeks and she was so kind and informative. I'm 30 and she said there is such a low risk (approx 1 in 960 - which will be less for you as your 5 years younger) of downs sydrome but it was up to me whether I wanted the 16 week blood test or not. I have decided to have it, it can't tell you if you are carrying a baby with downs syndrome but just what your chances are. If your chances are 1 in 250 or less, they will offer you an amniocentisis.

I'm now 14 weeks pregnant but I still worry about if my baby is healthy, etc. It's hard not too, but you really need to enjoy this special time too. I hope everything goes well for you.

Hi

I think that is really bad practice. I found out I was pregnant at 5 weeks and went to the doctors when I was almost 6 weeks. My doctor was really nice he congratulated me and told me to take things easy. He said I'd receive a letter from midwife about when my first scan would be (which was when I was 10 weeks). He also gave me a form to apply for free prescriptions. I'm now 15 weeks and got the quadruple blood test this afternoon.
Good luck with you pregnancy and try not too worry too much about miscarriage.x

Congrats - im in the same boat

Congrats

Hi

Congrats on your pregnancy!

It's a shame some docs seem to forget that although they've seen thousands of pregnant ladies, that each is an individual, and that your first pregnancy is nerve-wracking! Realistically, there is a chance of miscarriage, but you already know that, so you don't need some grumpy old sod to point it out for you! Just look after yourself, read up on things so you know what to expect (it's less scary if you understand symptoms etc) and try not to stress, as hard as that is. I still clearly remember wishiing the weeks away til I reached 12 weeks - it couldn't come fast enough! It's normal to worry - just read some of the posts on here, we all do it!

Take care of yourself x

Congratulations

Hi,

Congratulations. I saw my doctor when I was 5 weeks pregnant - he didn't seem bothered either, he said you'll get a letter in the post & carry on as normal it's not a illness!

I then got an appt for a scan which I've had at 11 weeks and everything was fine.

I was worried as you don't seem to get any advice from anyone until after you 1st scan.

I'll sure you'll be fine, I found the internet very useful for advice, also if you have any friend that have had babies ask them.

Let us know how you get on
