Hi all,

I have read that at 12 weeks (which I am now), my baby reacts to noise, light through the uterus wall and touch.

I am going on holiday to bright sunshine when I am 16 weeks. What will be happening to my baby in the sun?

As I warned, this is probably a stupid question....

Hi. From what I've read, it's sometime towards the end part of the 2nd trimester when the baby reacts to light and noise ( I'm 32 weeks and my little one doesn't seem to be bothered!) . And from what I gather, I don't think that's a bad thing at all.

Just make sure you don't spend too much time sunbathing as intense heat is apparently not that good for the baby (although I'm not sure how intense is intense).

Have fun in the sun!

Thank you all for putting my mind at ease!

"You sure?"

Are you sure you are 12 weeks?
If so you are really lucky and you could be having a BIG baby. Use sunscreen!

That's not stupid at all.

I don't think they react this early - their eyes are still fused shut, for one thing - although they may well hear things. I think they start to become aware of your voice at something like 18 weeks (anyone feel free to correct me!) but mine still doesn't react to outside noise and I'm 25 weeks. She does do somersaults when I get into a lift, or onto an escalator though!

I think the eyes open at around 27 weeks.

Just make sure you protect your skin with plenty of high factor suncream, escpecially your bump! x
