This is all new to me. Just signed up to this site. Found out pregnant about a week ago. Literally had coil removed and was pregnant 2 weeks later. I thought it would have taken longer! Feeling bit sick but more anxious and teary and wondering what on earth I've done! Assuming this is normal? Anyone else 1st time pregnancy would love to hear from you and get some support.

cool. it is a lot of mixed emotions. i must admit (and i feel awful saying it) i've not felt excited yet. just nervous and concerned about everything. how old are you btw? there are so many ages on here for 1st time pregnancies. some people making me feel very old to be doing this now but am only 28!

Have just been looking in the mirror in the toilets at work and I swear my tum looks more rounded. And one of the girls earlier said have I been wearing tight shoes cause your ankles look a little swollen!! How on earth am I gonna get through till the 1st of August without it being obvious. If I start wearing baggier clothes and flat shoes that would be such a giveaway, i'm a high heel girl! Any ideas? Help !

what about trousers? you could still wear heels with them. perhaps look up on trinny and susanna and find out which clothes flatter and disguise an apple shaped tum! sorry, not much help there. perhaps i'll have the same problem soon then you can chuckle at me

Hi there, its my first pregnancy too and I am due on 18th September!

I am around 27- 28 weeks at the moment and it still feels kind of surreal!

Its so weird as at the beginning I wasnt panicy at all - now I am like wow what have I let myself in for!

I think its because I was being so sick for the first few months and that just consumed all my thoughts - now I have had time to think about it and I want my old life back!

I think its because its our first one and it going into the unknown thats the scarey bit.

With lots of support and love we will get through this!

Hope yours goes well, wish I was just 6 weeks right now!

I feel exactly the same, i am 30 weeks today and suddenly feel so overwhelmed...i don;t think it actually sunk in that i was pregnant until i felt the baby kick or move for the first time.

We are going through so much right now. Dont you think men are so lucky, they dont have any morning sickness, the hormones,give birth or have to give up work because of it all!

Cheers for reply. Blimey - I thought it felt surreal as it was so soon. Think the 'bump' might bring it home for me or perhaps the scan. Not told anyone yet. We're waiting for the magic 12 week mark. Busting to tell everyone though - is that how you felt?

Yes, I think I told about everyone who stood still long enough!

5 weeks until 12th week. seems a way off at the moment although we're moving house so will probably fly by.
are you all sorted for your baby due in Sept? there must be lots to sort out (although I'm not sure what as not been there yet!)

Congrats !

It's my 1st (and only!) pregnancy too. I'm nearly 8 weeks so due 11th Feb. You are totally normal, my partner and I found it so surreal and hard to accept, had loads of doubts etc etc. Took a couple of weeks for us to get our heads round it but are pleased now and are even discussing names and whose nose etc it will have lol. I came on this site asking for support also, find it really helps, there's always somebody in the same boat or have gone through the same thing.
p.s. found it helpful when we went together to a baby store, kinda made it feel real x

I'm due 25th Feb so only a few weeks after you.
Too surreal to do anything about it at the moment. Think it might sink in after the scan.
Keep in touch - you'll be experiencing everything a few weeks before me including the birth (arrghh

Don't fancy the birth bit much. Told my partner last night I'm not doing that bit, he is - you should of seen his face ! Don't see why we should do all the hard work lol.

p.s. Haven't got my scan until the 1st August!, was really hoping it would be earlier as we have decided not to announce it till afterwards. Find it might be difficult cause i'm sure my tum is more rounded already or maybe i'm just imagining it. Ended up laying on the carpet last night with my partner peering at it from the side !! pps. nice not having periods though.

how do i go about sorting out the scan? i'm registered at a doctor down in poole but am due to be moving house in early august to birmingham. do i ask a doctor or just book it up at the hospital?

My Doc sent the referral letter to the hospital. Then about 2 weeks later I got my scan letter through. If I were you i'd ask your Doc about the moving situation and what is to happen - if your existing hospital will then refer you to one in Birmingham. Really don't know to be honest.

Came down to Poole once, thought it was lovely, i'm in South East London by the way.

I am 8 weeks pregnant due end Jan. This will be my first baby but my partner alreay has kids from a previous marriage, so he kinda knows whats normal etc which kinda helps. Felt teary and panicky for the past week but had my first scan today (they do it differently over here...I'm in Tenerife!) and heard the heartbeat and although I am still sort of panicky and anxious it bought it all home and made it real and I am so excited. We wanted to wait until the 12 week mark to tell everyone but we just couldn't wait. It started with "I'll just tell my sister, then your brother..." and before we knew it everyone knows!

i can see how that would happen. i was wondering about just telling one of my friends but she's not brilliant at keeping things hush hush and i think once i'd told her i'd want to then tell everyone.
like the idea of building friendships through pregnancy. something only us ladies can endure ehh?

We've not made it common knowledge either, my partner has only talked to a friend of his about it as I think he needed to release some tension and I was thinking to talking to my best friend about it all as she has been through the good side of pregnancy (2 children) and an abortion (on medical grounds). I know I can talk to her and she will keep quiet about it. Other than than we both want to wait until my 12 week scan when we know if everything is ok then we shall tell everyone. (First person being my mum of course). Told the estate agent though, told him to sell my place asap, need a 2 bedroom now !!
